The comments on here are just a little bit dozy. I have the phone two days now. It's an incredible piece of tech. So you cannot get many custom roms for mediatek cpu based devices. You can't get a reliable gcam port for mediatek chipsets. Who honestly cares? Yes, the vivo bloatware is a total ball ache and difficult to remove. These are negative points of course but look at the other side. 44w charging. It's incredible. A really powerful chipset that can hold it's own against anything else in the android world. This phone is scoring over 500,000 points on antutu. It's scores on geek bench are similarly impressive So people have said that mediatek are cheating on antutu with a sports mode activated on the app. However nobody has said they are cheating on geekbench. The phone scores a single core score of 784 and a multicore score of 3075. This is higher than the Samsung galaxy S10 5g from last year. I bought the iqoo z1 for 310 euros. The Samsung galaxy S10 5g is a best price of 750 euros. You do the maths. The vivo has a 144hz screen refresh rate. The Samsung has a 60hz max refresh rate. 25w charging support. The battery size is equal on both devices. The Samsung has a better camera but it's not even 30 percent better. I've used both. It's got an amoled screen versus the Lcd on the vivo iqoo z1. But the lcd on the vivo is immensely good. Viewing angles are excellent for an ips Lcd. The brightness is excellent. It's better than many amoleds I have seen. Also one other thing. The speakers on the vivo are incredible dual speakers. I put a video on YouTube on at max volume. I went up to the top of the house and could hear it clearly. I did the same with my redmi note 8 Pro and not even close and that is also a very impressive phone. This phone is absolutely superb for the price and that's the main consideration. It also has nfc by the way and dual sim support as well as the more and more rare headphones jack. Yes, some corners are cut but much in the same way as was done with the pocophone f1 I also owned. The vivo build quality, however, is far better than the pocophone f1. This phone is a no brainer. You can't find better value anywhere.

There has been a great deal of anticipation attached to the launched of this device with the mediaTek dimensity 1000+ chipset. This is going to change the face of fast internet connectivity by all bounds.

Anonymous, 12 May 2020Vivo not even reliable when it comes to software updates. T... moreLel someone butthurt I see. Regular joes don't care about roms. You know what they do? They use the phone regardless of the updates and after 2-3 years buy a new phone, as simple as that. They want something just works, it doesn't matter what version of Android the phone has. Seriously, try to talk about roms to teenagers who only use the phone for social media or middle age man/woman who use their phones for communication and working. They just don't care as long as it works and buy a new phone when it breaks.

About Gcam, do you realize why normal Gcam cannot be installed on any phone except Pixel? Because they put a limitation on that GENIUS. That's why you use ported/modded Gcam. If Google decides to ban it tomorrow they could you know, it has proprietary licence after all. You are actually at the mercy of Google.

Software is nice but hardware still does the main job done. vivo actually doesn't have a bad history regarding software updates and usually have pretty good audio implementations. Remains to be seen how things will go with this one & MTK but it does look promising.

That's why later or sooner, like it or not, these 'regular joe' will discover about custom roms but only to know that custom rom on mediatek is one in a million to none lol

And about that gcam, if it truly illegal and we 'stole' it from google, so why google do not ban it or make some special code into the app so that other phone can't use them? Google makes gcam as a open source app for some reasons, GENIUS

So what your next nonsense to lick mediatek? I'm waiting

Shame it probably won't see Europe... If BBK relased this at a similar price (+taxes ofc), it would mercilessly murder most of the midrange segment. Chipset that exchanges blows with SD855 and 144Hz screen for 325 eur? Fck me, what a deal

Seriously, I hate this kind of excuse everytime Mediatek chip came up. Any regular people only think about features, price and performance. The closest thing they care about software is when the update notification came up on the screen, look a bit on the info and then hit update since they don't familiar or even care about that.

Also this fixation on Gcam is weird. Gcam is Google's software, made for their own phones. By using it on a non Pixel phone, you are essentialy stole it from Google. Also by keep using and promote it, you are actually making the phone's manufacturer lazy. Why should they invest in computational photography if a simple port could make their phones capture good photos? I'm glad that most if not all of smartphone reviewers always use the official camera app and not using Gcam so that we know who is serious about their camera.

Very interesting, waiting for more leaks and full specifications. If it comes with enough good cameras and some extra feature it could be the flagship killer that Poco even Redmi depending the movels no more are. We will see...

Very nice, waiting for more specifications and leaks. Looks like promising. Competition is always the best for us. A win win for customers that could force other manufacturers to drop their prices in phones released with SD865 or release new products based on Dimensity 1000+.

Let's see which cameras, etc, this phone has when leaked.

Have you ever questioned this norm of gcam support and custom ROMs what if this whole time this is actually the wrong way forward all along

What if this monopoly of qualcomm is the disease in the first place

What if competition gets so fierce the need for GCAM and custom ROMs become useless

What if it forces some dangerously strong ISPs where we don't need gcam anymore

Do not underestimate what competition can do

Kepp your eyes firmly fixed on this one... This is going to be an epic gaming device available to most budgets. Without much compromise... This is excellent news. What better way to introduce new flagship chipsets... No other than a gaming phone... Vivo/realme are hardcore flagship killers indeed.

That is seriously hot. MTK1000+ Now that has got my attention. 144hz screen. I really don't mind LCD. Because LCD is very very good these days. And for the price... You get a lot already for the price...

Vivo IQOO keep getting my full attention here. As well as mediatek... It's always the underdogs you must keep an eye on... They are on top form now... Big time.

It's very similar to the Intel and AMD competition in the PC space right now, and if Mediatek can continue to churn out great, and high performing SoCs for reasonable amount, smartphone prices will see a drastic reduction which will be amazing

Vivo is the undisputed flagship killer king

Forget about Poco , Poco is dead

And if your a Qualcomm loyalist z you should support mediatek because ironically only when mediatek gets better will qualcomm get better because of COMPETITION

If you blindly follow qualcomm you are a danger to your own self, if they fight we consumers win

The Snapdragon 865 cost a third of this entire phones total cost

Even if you want to say your ok with paying higher for qualcomm that ultimately means you also wouldnt mine paying less for a qualcomm you therefore have no reason to defend qualcomms high prices
