My Note 9 is full of cracks and display scratches. This is both due to the display area being so large and because it's always exposed to damage. Whether it's while using it, in my pocket or a bag. Folding a phone actually means you're automatically protecting the display when not using it. Having glass surfaces half the size means they're a lot more durable to impact damage, too.

For example, regardless of whether you go with infold or outfold design, you're either giving up on using the device as a phone/phablet or display durability, which you wouldn't have to do if you just stick to the conventional form factor.

In the last few months I've heard complaints about everything from green screens on the S20 to disappointment in the exynos chips in comparison to the snapdragon. I've not heard anything about dust getting into the Galaxy Z. Did I miss something?

The technology around them is still maturing and right now you need to sacrifice a lot (waterproofing, battery life, durability etc) just to get that bendable display. They'll probably gain a quality comparable to conventional ones after 2 or 3 years, but until then no foldables are worth their asking prices.

                  Buy a Galaxy S10e instead. Problem solved. Basically the same phone as Z Flip. Cheaper too.
