16 May 2020
He doesn’t talk much about the image quality, but we’re excited to see if Sony has upped its game.

Didlick was hired to praise the camera, and not to honestly talk about the camera.

Fingerprint scanner is new. Not same used by XZ Premium.
      Sony owns the patent.

Fearghast, 16 May 2020I often wonder if those, who "wants" profesional manual mod... moreBecause auto in many situations do not choose right settings.

        1) If you want to shoot night sky, you need high iso and at least 20s shutter. Auto does not give this.

        2) Phones have issues with WB under artificial ligthing. Manual can correct this.

        3) phones will raise ISO as light drops. With manual you can keep it low.

        4) manual WB can give you a specific looking you like

I like to set E.V as -0.7 , I think photos look nicer to me (of course it does not mean photo has better quality). You cant do it on auto unless you have pixel.

Also it provides manual mode for all three cameras. All other phones put manual just for wide lens (xperia 1 included).

One of the most important things will be how good Sony's DRO works. DRO is basically nothing else than a setting that makes shadows brighter. But I don't know whether the Xperia will have manual DRO settings or just Auto DRO.

I remember when the Sony Ericsson K750i launched, they had a similar promotional video, with some photographer dude claiming that the K750i is all that he's going to carry from now on (for taking photos).

This was in 2005, when the K750i brought a 2 MP camera, which allowed for good enough printed photos (of regular size). Ah, such good times…

Seriously sony , you still didn't release the device
A lot of people forgot about it and if you want to sell you have to do a lot of marketing and lower the price 1200€ is not cheap why should i buy sony when there a lot of devices that are better and cheaper like op8 pro , x2 pro , mi10

Best smartphone brand for sure designed for special people looking for the best in the market.
Sony makes the best smartphones, the most reliable and durable, Chinese brands has aggressive marketing, nothing more!

Shanti Dope, 16 May 2020In any particular case, I might as well wait for next year'... moreI guess that logic does not work as well, does it?
Not to mention this could be the year that decides the future of Xperia brand.

Anonymous, 16 May 2020Professional manual mode. That's all I need. Auto is for normies.I often wonder if those, who "wants" profesional manual mode, even know what those pamaters do and how they affect the final picture.
But maybe I am overly sceptical, because image quality is pretty poor compared to even DSC-RX100 VA (night and day difference if you will), so my guess is a real photographer could not care less.
But we know being photographer and feeling like one is probably good enough for some ... in that case I guess I am photographer as well :D

And obviously there would also be another Xperia flagship to be released before the year ends, so there's that.

Photographers outside the studio will use the best camera they have available at the time. And sometimes that will be a phone. (I don't take my DSLR out on small boats for instance).
