In a sea of Qualcomms I find Mediatek to be a refreshing change. Hope it arrives in India. It will definitely sell more than IQOO 3 here.

Does Z1 have any goodies in audio department? Dedicated DAC i suppose.

Samath N8 808 owner, 20 May 2020You do have a valid point, but how bad can it be? I mean, ... moreYou may be right about that, but companies should not cheat like this anyway. A while ago, Kirin was involved in such controversy too, but they stopped doing it. MTK should do the same now.

Samath N8 808 owner, 20 May 2020You do have a valid point, but how bad can it be? I mean, ... moreIf u read the articles from Anandtech explaining this case, u'll see that MediaTek INDEED acknowledge doing cheating, BUT only for marketing purpose.
          What does that mean?

In short, tweaking DVFS and schedulers in (power_whitelist_cfg.xml) so that the memory controller will run at the maximum frequency all the time, easier for workloads to have the CPU cores ramp up in frequency faster and stay on for longer period.
This is ALL only done for the sole purpose of benchmark; MediaTek do deliver good to excellent SoC, but they do this practice to up their sales which is severely low because of rival's monopoly practice (that's also the case with Huawei's Kirin & Samsung's Exynos cheating practice).

I myself are disappointed by this, but also realize there is no other options for them; since 2010, people saw that smartphone reviews are not just features anymore, unlike previous years when Nokia & symbian rules the market share with their MEAGER hardware & other limitation imposed by the OS.

The point is, if u know Cortex hierarchy and MediaTek track record for the last 3 years, u'll see that they do deliver good to excellent SoC for the masses, which in turn keep Qualcomm in check for many years in order to not have complete monopoly over SoC market.

One of the reason why MANY SoC designers closed their business (ST-ericsson, Texas Instrument, VIA, Broadcom, Nvidia, etc) are INDEED the work of Qualcomm in order to weed out potential rivals as many & as soon as possible, before they grew big.

The only remaining SoC designers are INDEED growing big; with their own problems.
Exynos SoC is notorious for its inefficient in-house Mongoose; Kirin SoC is using outdated architecture because of US; MediaTek SoC was battery-eater, portable stove too, with nearly unusable GPS at first, but after Qualcomm's biggest blunder with SD41x, SD61x, SD808, SD810, and SD82x (yup, the first Kyro is another portable stove and battery-eater too), MediaTek grab the chance to grow big; the introduction of their first high-end SoC MT6595 and mid-range MT6752 (unfortunately, MT6595 failed to success albeit its high-performance 4cores Cortex A17).

Fun fact: MediaTek does, in fact, designed high-end SoC 2 times, and both times they failed to deliver FOR unknown reason (MT6595 & Helio X30). Even their 3 clusters architecture which was SEVERELY mocked by others (mostly Qualcomm), was SHAMELESSLY used by Qualcomm in their SD855, SD855+, SD865, SD765, SD765G, SD768G!
Hopefully, this time, they success so that the Qualcomm's monopoly will greatly reduced (all this time, the only market where Qualcomm monopoly rules are high-end ones, as in low-end and mid-range, MediaTek & Unisoc (formerly Spreadtrum) keep Qualcomm at bay)

Anonymous, 19 May 2020exynos 990 also have the so call better gpu than 865.....i watched video with s10+ and s20 on pubg where s10 were better on fps drops from s20 ... which is strange

I mean, MTK Dimensity 1000 is surely better than SD855 for non modders, right?

              PS: not a MTK fan.

MediaTek caught cheating on benchmarks. You can't trust the scores you see online. Just another reason to avoid MTK stuff.

                https://benchmarks.ul.com/news/ul-delists-mediatek-powered-phones-with-suspect-benchmark-scores

I'm sure MTK fans are gonna attack me over exposing their favorite company's scandal. But at the end of the day, I'm providing evidence, while they're just being blind fanboys.

There sould be more and more phone using Dimensity SoC.. Especially for normal people and mostly women.. Not for geek which always asking about custom ROM.. Because the price of latest Snapdragon SoC is expensive..

Xiaomi is so late in udopting Dimensity series. Redmi series which is considering cheap don't have Dimensity phone yet. D820 and D1000+ is new SoC. We don't see D1000/L and D800 from Xiaomi yet.

I hate that the language is going downhill and downhill ...

It's not a "48 MP triple camera" unless all three cameras take 48 MP pictures !!!

That was a good choice. Only slightly slower chipset for a smaller price?

The IQOO neo3 should have been called the IQOO Z1 865.
