Google can't seem to make a proper proper phone nowadays, they always cut corners but this is absurd. Chipset that is about as good as sd845 with even a weak gpu than it in a $700 phone? No thanks. They could have used sd865 and 90hz screen instead but I guess planned obsolence is more important. It is also funny how people are trying to justify it. Do you remember in 2012 when we got nexus 4- $299 for the base model and $349 for the 16gb storage model? Back then for these money you were getting pretty much the maxed out phone of the year in terms or hardware. And nowadays people call $700 budget.

Knowing Google they are going to charge at least $550 for it, so they could have gone with the SD738 , basically a SD735 but a bit faster, but it also only cost that bit extra. They have to fix the battery issue here and have a triple camera setup, Wide, Ultra-wide and Telephoto. They should at least pack a 20W charger with the phone, and a 30W for the XL, considering they are going to charge a lot more for the XL. Lastly they need to bring back the unlimited photo storage, they is no hope for the return of the headphone jack, to Google it's dead. Also they really need to give the Pixel phones more ram, 4gb of ram for a flagship is not enough, especially for android.

But if this is somewhat reasonably priced with a banging set of cameras and decent battery life, with the unlimited photo storage, I'd say it will sell quite well or at least it will bring back some fans.

So Google wants to take the crown for worst flagship of the year two years in a row?

Google should have either focused on a very good Android phone that does Android well (ie. Nexus line) or went top-tier with cutting edge stuff, showing what Android can potentially do. They tried innovating with Pixel with its great single lens camera performance, the squeezable bumpers and radar, but the implementation (except for the camera), fell short and not taken up by other phone makers.

Shame to see the Pixel Line go this far down. Considering the billion-dollar company Google is, they never needed to charge insanely premium prices for their phones; especially with the lack of hardware.

If they go the 768, it will be fine. Their 2K panel at 90Hz refresh rate is fine. Keeping LDDPR4X RAM and UFS 3.0 is fine. IP68 with wireless charging is fine. All they need is the trifecta of cams (highly recommend to improve their pixels to 16MP but all 3 at 12MP isn't the end of the world), bigger battery to compensate for the panel (if the XL is going to be a 6.5" display, it should use at MINIMUM a 4,500 mAH battery with 21W fast charging), bring back the front-facing stereo speakers (Pixel users don't care about bezel-less), return of the headphone jack, and return of the unlimited Google Photos cloud system while pricing it right (for 6/128 model at least should be at $650 and 8/256 at MAX at $750) to get back in the game.

Then for the Pixel 5, it should be at a 5.8" panel with a downgrade of 1080p with 90Hz refresh rate and a 3,900 mAH battery along with everything above starting at $550. Google would make minor profits (still profits nevertheless) but would crank out 2 SOLID phones at good price ranges with the right amount of hardware that isn't going too far (no 120Hz, no AMOLED, no HYPER FAST BADONK BADONK CHARGING, no macros, no depth, no TOF, no waterfall, no punch hole, and no crazy processing speeds).

While I would fight for a microSD slot, I've given up on Google ever offering that so...yea.
