Why would you want two 5G connections? Xiaomi is teasing major advantages. Also, the AOD feature will be highly customizable.

          I just already barely find 5G useful, double 5G is useless, triple 5G is madness...

          And well, we certainly not need any additional standard, what we need is two compartments, one for SIM and the other for SD cards where we can put 2 microSD cards in it, those two compartment should be isolated from the rest of the phone so we get real water resistance, microSD and SIM cards are thin enough to make it possible without loosing much space, and smartphones are too thin nowaday anyway...
          I mean, if their new standard was really better, why not, but if it is only smaller, there is no use except forcing peoples to buy their own stuffs...

                    Well, many peoples don't realize, but what I do isn't pointless, I have an influences, I've actually noticed some of my results since few weeks now, I discreetly and slowly but surely change some people's minds, and doing so change local trends desire a little, for instance you'll notice that there are more pop up camera lover and defender than before !

                    For the 5G I don't just base what I said on what I like, but on logic, this make absolutely no sense to rush on 5G who rely on strong optical fiber and 4G infrastructure while those two aren't being done yet, and it make no sense (outside of the commercial argument and the effect that "5G" put on customers head) to sell all phones with 5G now, in two years why not, end of 2020 maybe, but now it is too soon, mainly with the COVID having put everything to a near halt...

                    Peoples don't seem to realize how different current 5G phone will be compared to those released when enough 5G coverage and users will be out there, I'd say current phones are an Alpha, then a future gen will be a Beta test, only after at least a year into active mass use of networks through multiples countries, phones with good hardware for 5G will be released...
                    From security to performance, reliability and stability, everything will get improved, every experts that haven't money to earn from that always say to wait before buying the first of a tech, look at Qualcomm 3D Sonic that Samsung put on their Galaxy S10, S20 and Note10, it wasn't up to the hype, and I am sure the new generation, the 3D Sonic Max that should come with the Note20 will be amazing...
                    Because they learned from their mistake, the same will apply to 5G !
                    I wouldn't buy a 5G phone right now with futur proofing in mind, if someone is sure to buy a new phone soon enough when the good ones will be released, okay, why not, but users aiming for long term (5 years or more) would be better waiting a little !

                    When AMD released their Ryzen, at first, while being quite good, a lot of things weren't properly functioning, lots of bugs and issues, but the next model of the first gen were largely improved !

                    My dream phone with what is currently existing would be :
                    *SD765G or 768 or 865 + more than 6GB of RAM and I wouldn't spit on LPDDR5.
                    *At least 128GB storage with standalone SD card or 258GB UFS 2.1 or 3.0.
                    *Regular current flagship size, thicker than usual with a 5 or 6Ah battery, I don't really need quick charge but I would still appreciate, wireless charging though I want it !
                    *1440p with 16:10 FLAT display, I wouldn't mind a higher refresh rate but it isn't important, higher touch sampling would be appreciated though !
                    *Magnetic connectors for USB and Jack.
                    *Large Pop up module like the Vivo V17 Pro (well larger) with two camera, IR camera and floodlight, dot projector, regular floodlight (so everything for 3D facial recognition) and a big enough speaker, not for loudness but for sound quality on high and mediums.
                    *In display speaker for the basses, ambiant light and proximity sensor in the border+bezel.
                    *Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max as underdisplay fingerprint scanner, or equivalent if someone secretly work on one.
                    *Sony IMX 700 as main with OIS and portrait capabilities, periscope telephoto 3x 19MP or 5x 12MP, 19MP ultrawide, 12MP macro and 5MP or more ToF depth sensor, dual flash or more.
                    *Multiple sat nav with 1m precision like : A-GPS L1 + L5, Galileo E1 + E5a, Beidou B1 + B2 and Glonass L1...

                    NFC, Always on Display but still a notification led too, Gorilla Glass 5 or 6, flat back with no camera bump (normal for a thicker phone), 960 FPS slowmo, Wi-Fi 6 with 6Ghz ready hardware, infrared and good cooling like the Redmi K30 Pro.

                    Put all that on a medal body, why not Titanium, and that's my ideal device !


                    The only upgrade I'd see would be a dedicated security chip that handle all biometrics and phone main password/pin/pattern, prevent from formatting if the proper biometrics aren't provided, allow for constantly improving and change following biometrics thanks to AI and allow the user to choose what security method he will use for each apps.
                    Combined with UV camera and floodlight and Iris scanning.

                    I know such device would be expensive but I'd consider that worth it !


                    Yeah, that's why I hate that mobile carrier have their own network, the best would be that they are ALL responsible for developing and maintaining a common network, and using a "company net worth, monthly profits, how many 4G stations were installed and maintained" calculation so that regardless which one is the biggest or not they all fairly compare, they get a score that allow them a certain guaranteed minimum percentage on the network, and the more they do that with 4G, the more they'll have it for 5G which they won't be allowed to use until 4G and fiber is properly deployed.
                    And a certain percentage of the 4G network will be free to use for specific things, medical, official, public but also connected cars and other stuff, the fact that it won't be abused will be guaranteed by the simple concept of all those having only certain type of web practices and only some things they will access, making it useless for anyone trying to use it for personal mobile data, that's a simple yet efficient security way better than sending authentification to check that this is really X or Y device.
                    And considering the more mobile carrier would work the more they would own the network, I can guarantee you that any country with such rules would see a really fast 4G, fiber and 5G deployment xD

                      I know Razer is waiting for 5G to get better before coming out with their 3rd phone but I would love to see a solid 4G performer that actually works in the US. They said that they don't want to spend a lot of money but I'd totally buy a Razer Lite with MediaTek's G95 (G90 with upgraded GPU to take UFS 3.0 and Dolby Vision HDR codec), THX front-facing speakers, 5,000mAH battery, 8GB LDDPR4X RAM, 128GB ROM with expanded memory, Full HD with 120Hz refresh/240Hz touch, 25W charging, 48MP with OIS/13MP wide cameras, and TOTAL bands for Europe, India, and the US in a heartbeat but all we get are super pricey 5G phones that are STILL lacking in hardware and, in my case, can't be used here.

                      I don't mind the 5G evolution but my country's too behind on it while 4G still isn't perfected here (at least for Sprint and T-Mobile).

                        5G is just an antenna, there is the whole network behind it which is independent from what variant of DATA is plugged into it, 5G can only handle more clients thanks to newer protocols and bigger hardware...
                        The physical antenna themselves don't really need to change.

                        So just put each country at work to upgrade 4G network by creating new 4G controller based on a standard, which would allow each country to NOT depend on Huawei, rethink the 4G antenna placement, place new one and replace older ones until you get a satisfactory result, like 50Mbps minimum on cities, based on coverage and estimated maximum number of connected clients at once, plus rather than putting one antenna per mobile carrier, put one antenna per area, for dense area put multiple antenna that all carriers will share equally.
                        Voila, you created jobs, a fair and equally distributed mobile data network with good coverage, you ensured basically everyone have a minimum bandwidth, you don't depend on other country's stuffs, you fixed your old antennas AND you paved the way for 5G, because 5G can't actually work without 4G, 5G isn't a replacement or an upgrade, it is a subnetwork placed on top of 4G.
                        Which is why it is stupid to rush 5G without having a strong 4G network to begin with, also futur 5G will allow extremely fast internet that current optical fiber connected to the 4G antenna the 5G ones will use, can't deliver...

                            For anyone with a minimum level of sensitivity towards the technology, you can all feel that the world is on the cusp of a new technological revolution, with the emergence of a new 5G ecosystem of which the existing smartphone ecosystem is a small part. We don't know the exact contour of this new revolution, but we have the gut feeling that the most important upcoming positive impact of 5G on the society at large will not be directly related to smartphones. In other words, 5G is primarily about something other than smartphones. Smartphone is just one of the thousands user scenarios that are related to 5G.

                                  At least 3, possible as many as 5, new 5G SoCs (with integrated 5G modem) will be forthcoming in the coming weeks. We should see a full price segment coverage of 5G smartphones starting from $150, well before the end of 2020. I will not be surprised if a $100 5G smartphone showing up towards the end of the year.

                                  2020 will be remembered as the year UNO of the real 5G transition when 5G phones start to outsell 4G phones in some critical markets. For Xiaomi and many other phone-makers, the single most important focus is to secure a large enough piece of "the 5G market pie" so that they are better positioned to fight a long and protracted war in the 5G space starting in 2021. (By the way, selling 5G phones to 4G markets doesn't count.)

                                    How many people are audiophiles? But are companies releasing same audio device with different audio codecs, SBC, AAC, Aptx HD and LHDC? A lot of people are very okay with AAC and would rather not spend more. What about ANC? How many people actually need them? But are companies releasing same device with ANC and without ANC? You know they add to the cost, right? Or same TVs, but one with FHD, and another with 8K?

                                    OEMs want to stay competitive, because it's a highly competitive industry. Maybe when you own such companies, too, you'd understand. Oh, you want to change that? Alright, but the only sure way you could is to convince buyers not to buy those devices. But good luck with that… sorry, you'd need more than luck. Wetting the floor here with tears ain't gonna do it, and I'd rather not slip and fall.

                                    And people outside of first world countries have been buying 4G capable phones before the 4G service became widely available in their locations. But you wouldn't know that.

A 5G phone is, in a sense, a better 4G phone, and you will have the option to turn off the 5G portion of the modem. The antenna design in a 5G phone is much more powerful and sophisticated, with a much more nuanced power-down design for power-saving measures. Assuming your local 4G infrastructure is good enough, a 5G phone will offer improved performance even in 4G, in terms of (1) the speed to establish the initial connection; (2) the ability to establish a connection when signal is weak; and (3) to maintain a connection when you are on the move, in a car, or on a fast train, etc.

                                      You can wait a little while longer for the next wave of 5G smartphones. At least for the mid-rangers and below, "5G phone premium", if any, will approach zero and being replaced with "5G phone bonus", by the end of 2020. In other words, for the same price, 5G phones will be better spec'd than 4G phones; and for phones with comparable specifications, 5G phones will be priced lower than 4G phones.
