LOL many are buying it for its h... moreGaming phones are a sham product to waste money. I like their looks. But the quality is way off. Tell me, what Esports grade games are capable of maximising the frame rates. Don't make me play Subway Surfers at 120fps. Understand that the gaming ecosystem of mobile games is still pretty limited.
Not like those Console/PC games like COD Warzone, Apex Legends, RS6 Siege, GTA Online or even offline games such as The Witcher 3, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, etc. They are real games not designed for cheap underage that will spoil the gaming community.
Yes, gaming phones are more portable, but the games aren't just satisfying in my opinion. And certain PC/laptop manufacturers have tried to make laptops more portable. MSi has started this trend. They already have lightweight gaming laptops already in their lineup (ex. GF63 Thin 9SC, Prestige 14). Razer does as well.

Still it will overheat after couple of hours.
ROG 2 has no such issues. Can use Bluetooth headphones since it has 4 WiFi antennas and performance is not compromised over wireless networks. Also chipset doesn't throttle after continuous gaming. And don't have to close background apps during gaming.

I have noticed a ROG Phone 2 user (in Zentalk forum) complaining that he experienced frame drops in PUBG Mobile. Also I've heard multiple issues from Indonesian owners. The phone's performance is underwhelming. Demanding games such as Lifeafter and Bright Memory Mobile is a problem for the phone.
ROG Phone is just overhyped. Please, don't listen to this comedian who works for Tencent Games.

No major companies ... moreAlthough the population of smartphone gamers is huge, most of them are "stealth" gamers, and will not accept the styling of those gaming-phones, especially the styling of a ASUS gaming-phone which borrows heavily from their gaming-laptops.
ASUS will not be able to sell nearly as many units of ROG Phone 3. They should be happy if they can sell half of what they sold with ROG Phone 2.

TBH I am quite curious how will ROG 3 turn out.
Probably the worst thing on ROG 2 was its camera and no IP rating and that is an easy fix in my eyes.
I suspect Asus won't drop a toon of useless gimmics, but this could still be a good device. Not a gaming one, thats given by its nature (no worthwhile games on Android), but decent, reliable media/camera/phone device.
Can't wait!

TBH I see mobile games as a decent time waster on a couch. When I am not playing on my desktop or I am sick of playing Mario Karts on Switch, I often pick up my phone or tablet and play Alto Oddysey, Gardenscapes or Bejeweled, that sure does my Snapdragon 855 run for its money.
Mobile gaming is a joke or for people that do not yet own a decent gamig rig / real console.

Personally. I think we should keep our gaming phones only for Asia. Why should we let the west have access to our extreme performance superiority gaming machines...? Let the west have there cameraphones....
We will have to try and prevent these gaming handsets getting into the hands of Europeans and Americans... Let them game on iPhones at 60hz... Funny.

No major companies flagship providing SD865 performance at 500-600 dollar price point.
Plenty of ppl are happy with a fast performing smartphone with headphone jack, long battery, fast internal storage, high refresh rate panel with a serviceable camera.
