For a normal user, there are of course many cheap smartphones in the market that will do the job in less than 500$. You don't need to spend over 1000$ for normal usage or specs, makes sense??
I'm not saying everyone should buy this smartphone. But at least appreciate the Sony for its effort in creating a professional device. That's what makes flagship price worth it. For gamers, you have plenty cheap gaming mobiles that will do the work, for shoot at camera even budget pixel can take excellent pictures. Obviously flagships are not for so called "Normal User". This smartphone is aimed at professionals as well as the ones who wants these typical features. (One thing to remember you don't find the same features (Creator mode enabling 10bit and BT2020 colour gamout, 20fps AE/AF, 4K HDR display and so on) in other smartphones). Just like how you don't find 108MP, 120Hz refresh rates in Sony Xperia 1 II.

It's long enough for Sony to realize they don't need to waste money on ads when users nowadays want Core i9 9900K and GTX 2080 Ti in a $299 smartphone.

It's not killing anything because Sony is playing their usual game. They don't think they have to advertise well or put the phone out there. Nor do they think they need to work with the carriers.
Just randomly throw a phone online and expect that everyone will just magically know it exists and go online to pay full retail for it. Rather than going into a carrier store and getting a good deal and split payments.
One of the numerous reasons theirs sales are next to nothing anymore.

Of course they are not perfect but they are still better in many sections over other brands like LG or Samsung who are panel producing leaders. Anyone who's serious about colours will never pick cheap price 4K or 8K. Even cheap Sony TVs might not be as good as other brands.

They're extremely good (as I have seen them myself in a Sony SG store). But its top-of-the-line model costs $10000. I know it's a 4K (or even 8K?) TV with high refresh rate. But Asus offers a gaming TV with the same resolution for less and I think it comes with built in GPU. Just watch LinusTech's unboxing and you'll understand. He doesn't review Bravia TVs I think.

Bashing is not real life users complaining about real life situations where they were screwed over by a company.
That's rightful complaints.
Bashing is if someone didn't like them and started saying bad things based on true or non true shortcomings. And many do as well.
Which generally never happens on Sony pages. You just end up having too many Sony loyalists hounding pages twisting the fact that people are being factual and trying to make it out as bashing.

- It is. First they advertise it using in a pool. After that in Sony forum, tonnes of user complains their phone broke because using it in a pool. And Sony wont cover warranty about it. Lots of user angry back then. That is called 'bashing'. After that incident, Sony then use newer ad for waterproofing without using the pool scene, and adjust the terms on waterproofing warranty.

And the worst is Sony does it again... regardless of price and every other opinion missing this or inferior/superior this or that.
They just expect to throw a phone out randomly... and online only basically at full retail. Next to nothing on advertisement and no carrier installments... and think it will sell?????
The biggest mistake they make year after year that hurts them more than their technological issues.
Advertise it and get back with the carriers and their sales will increase dramatically. Continue to do the opposite and their sales will continue to plummet.
