I'm not liking what I see...

The Poco F2 Pro camera lab tests are now available in Gsmarena's photo compare tool.

Somehow the 100% crops of Poco F2 Pro are ugly. It's like the Poco F2 Pro review unit has lens astigmatism (defective or low quality lens). Lens sharpness is poor compared to even the much cheaper Redmi K30. Did gsmarena get a factory defect or does this represent the usual Poco F2 Pro camera output?

If it is the usual, I'm not liking what I see considering the Poco F2 Pro is a $530 phone while the Redmi K30 (non-pro) only costs $247.

Here, see for yourself:

It would have been nice if the Poco F2 Pro is whitelisted by Netflix on its site for HD playback, but as of now, nope.

It means even if the Poco F2 pro is announced by Gsmarena to have Widevine L1 certification, it still won't playback or stream DRM content (Netflix, Amazon prime, etc.) in HD.

It's a shame with all that gorgeous, all screen, no notch, no punch hole display. And it's not only for in-phone viewing. Once you wirelessly screen share offline downloaded content to your big screen TV, all you get is completely black screen (no video) with captions and audio. Yes, even Widevine L1 certified Mi A3 phones (Android One!) can't wirelessly mirror offline downloaded HD Netflix movies to TV! Why? Because it isn't whitelisted by Netflix.

                  Netflix whitelisted phones/tablets/devices:

IpsDisplay, 29 May 2020Not sure why you take my criticism/ deconstruction as compl... moreConsidering you start by calling it a joke and the end by saying that another phone you'd prefer will be released, this sound way more like a complaint than a criticism/deconstruction, and even if it wasn't, it doesn't really change that you did it wrong as it isn't constructive.

Better list what the ideal Poco F1 successor would be rather than listing what, a phone that many want, mainly because it is cheap while having top tier features and it is one of the rare pop up equipped phone, have that you don't like about it as if it was designed to be a successor within specific parameters.
And considering the F1 had a notch rather than a bezel, had a fingerprint scanner, had two camera and had the top end SoC available at its time, we can't really talk about having only the features that are needed, a F1 with a bezel or no front camera, no FPS, a single back camera and a middle range SoC would have been way more adapted to this title, title being only a commercial argument rather than a real philosophy or any real promises.

I do agree that a phone with top end SoC and only the necessities is required, as many other things, diversity is a good thing, and all the phones that barely differ from the rest should be actively criticizes to help change the trend, but the F2 Pro is a quite unique phone and certainly one that shouldn't be criticized for diversity sake, diversity will be archived through fighting the many, not the few, if everyone fight against unique phones, they will just reinforce the single design type, but when diversity is archived, everyone will get its chance to obtain the device he want.

AnonD-909757, 29 May 2020Why are you even complaining about this phone being differe... moreNot sure why you take my criticism/ deconstruction as complaining.. but ok

Here is the essential philosophy of the Poco phone F1

                        https://youtu.be/yBhEhyjz698

Jump to the 28 minutes mark, the presenter literally

talks about non essential features extra cameras upping costs they literally even said it was stupid to have glass back to then cover with plastic case....

And your remedy to criticism about a successor is to buy its predecessor.. my critiques were never about me choosing to buy a F1 so nice straw man....

It's simple ABC kindergarten logic, keep your initial formula just change your processor ... Again this is not about my personal preferences

IpsDisplay, 29 May 2020My argument is valid No evidence that there is a regular... moreWhy are you even complaining about this phone being different from the F1, if you want the F1, then buy the F1, simple as that.
How many Pocophone there are ?
And from that tiny number (a single one if we don't count the Indian only X2 as part of the same series, X2 which BTW is closer to the F2 Pro than the F1 feature wises), how can you extrapolate what is or what isn't the standard style/features of the Pocophones ?

Yes it come with forced 5G and I hate that too, but still the SD865 is the way to go, not just in performances but also in quality and best built in algorithms.

It is still a flagship killer despite the price hike, and we need more flagship killers than flagships.

Releasing a phone with a chipset at its end of life is a stupid decision and what everyone criticized Nokia from doing with the Nokia 9 Pureview...

No one said they had features we only need as a philosophy for the first one...
*I would prefer better material than Glass but I would hate having a plastic back phone...
*Oled display have many advantages over LCD, including Always On Display.
*Pop up camera doesn't much more it is a really simple thing that probably cost like 5¤ more, and last time I checked privacy is something we need, what we don't need is front camera if you go that way.
*And yes, smartphones can't change optics like camera, so until a multifonction optic is released, we need multiple camera to do multiple tasks, the additional wide angle and macro are things many peoples want.
If you want a phone with only features you need, take a feature phone, they have plastic body, LCD display, no pop up, no quad camera, only things you need and cheap, exactly what you desire.

You can get real uninterrupted fulldisplay and you also get privacy which is extremely important nowadays.

Davidariyan, 28 May 2020For me, pop up camera is a dealbreaker. That's like the best option for me ever. Selfie addicts may not like the solution but I hate notches and punch holes and I must have taken 10 selfies a year at most. So having a camera I rarely use tucked away when not required is a brilliant solution as you can have a screen with zero notches or punch holes. Pure screen.
