Looks a great TV more tv's should be Android. i have a Sony Android tv and its brilliant the stuff you can put on it. Nokia could have stood out here by giving it a new sceen size to what others are offering. There is a gap between 43" and 49". LG has just this year brough out a 48" oled and it is stunning. Wish this nokia could have been 45" or 46". it may have had to buy panels readily available but i would assume you could order any size panels you want from a manufacturer, all be it at a cost probably.

It's easy to cherry pick one model, smaller sized panels, discounted or overstocked item on one retailer's shop that goes with fine print of *Price seen when you buy wiht X/Y/Z credit card as EMI*, etc. to show how fantastic the deal is.
But it will take anyone less than 5 minutes to see for themselves how much they are getting ripped off by purchasing TVs in India. For that one model (whose prices are Not unified by the way) that you cherry pick, there are literally hundreds to show you otherwise. Like you say, higher end and larger models have eyewatering markups in India compared to US.
The only places where prices May be closer is on the 32 inchers and lower. That's mainly because 30~60% tax+imports+shipping on a smaller base price looks less than the same 30~60% on larger numbers.
FYI 7,00,000 (7 hundred thousand rupees or 7 lakhs) is 9300 USD not 'nearly 900usd'. Even if you forgot to add one zero as an typo, 300-odd USD is NOT a rounding error. Get the facts straight.

Why are manufacturers so clueless about the 'smart' aspect? A TV has an expected useful life of 7 years (which is still pathetic compared to the old tube models); why give it such anemic 'Smart' hardware? Do they really expect people to upgrade TVs every few years like phones? They'll just buy an Android box, AppleTV, pair up a phone, or hook up a HTPC.

But big brands like samsung, LG, always keep the prices same in India or even lower. For example the previous gen entry level Q60R qled from samsung was launched at 1200$ in USA, and now it is available for 900.. The new Gen Q70t which is to replace q60r is priced at 1000.. But in India, you get the q60r at 55,000 RS in reliance or future group stores. Which translates to 800.. The new Q70T is going to launch at 70,000.. which is still cheaper than US. Its only when you go to very high end, at 8k, the price disparity is slightly more. The 65inch 8k is 7000 usd.. whreas in India it is 7lakhs.. nearly 900usd.. Its not at all 4 to 5 times costlier liek you said.

1. Build your own brand (example - MarQ, Billion, etc)
2. License a known brand, do.your own sourcing and at the end of the day put the brand's stamp on it. Nokia TV, Motorola TV, Beardo Trimmer, etc are all private labels done by Flipkart using this route. The brand doesn't do any hard work, just sells its brand name and gets royalty on every unit sold.
Also Livemint sucks.

I've said it before, it warrants to be said again...buying any TV in India is a SIN. What is being sold for ~500 USD in Costco, Wallmart, Microcenter, etc. right now will get sold for 1500 to 2500 USD (or upwards!!) in India. And India will be Lucky to get the same models for the bloated prices, because many manufacturers use alternative panels and watered down feature set while still retaining the bloated sales prices for Indian models compared to US or EU ones.
If warranty and the delicacy of the item was not an issue, I would have prefered to ship the TVs from the other side of the planet to India, and I would still save up a litle bit on the total price compared to buying it locally when all's said and done. Alas, TVs are not as easy or worry-proof to ship like GPUs, CPUs and other hardware components.
This Nokia TV though...DOA. You can pick up a far superior 55" TCL 55P8 TV for around the same price. NINO (Nokia-In-Name-Only) is a ship that's already lying at the bottom of the ocean.
