I'm in for HTC,, still using HTC 10 and cannot look beyond from HTC,,,

Seeing HTC in action is all good but they should make their phones relevant to the standards set in each budget range. It could potentially lure customers who don't want chinese phones.

Galaxy Acer, 04 Jun 2020What they need to do is kickstart their smartphones with a ... moreIMO their marketing should focus on their Taiwanese identity. With Hong Kong disappearing and China going into the dark ages, Taiwan is becoming recognized around the world as a cultural leader in Asia, up there with Korea and Japan.

If they come up with a flagship phone which reminds people of their previous success and say "Hey this is a Taiwanese phone, it will be high quality and it won't spy on you" that will definitely get some peoples' attention.

I agree that aluminum is the way to go.

I was a big HTC user, starting with the Hero and I stuck with them until the Nexus phones. Now I'm a Sony user, but I would be happy to be able to consider HTC again if they make something comparable to the Xperia 10 ii in quality, design, and price. Nobody else really did when I was shopping for a new phone a couple weeks ago.

superpup, 04 Jun 2020I would love so much for HTC to be relevant again. If they ... moreThey need to start producing phones for the Europe and North America markets. Last HTC phone I saw online for sale was the Desire 650. They need to make good value phones in the whole of the midrange market. Even their entry-level phones would be good quality.

Nope, not going back. I've had the G1, Sensation 4G, U7 (such stellar design!), and U11. But after the U11 fiasco with a too-fragile screen, no parts for months, and failed service center, it's in it's box in a drawer. My Pixel 3a is a winner. HTC just isn't getting my trust or my money again.

What troubles people more are their batteries, they are so small. They will release a phone with good specs but the small battery will allow you to even used them. Hope they will improve the battery size drastically.

superpup, 04 Jun 2020I would love so much for HTC to be relevant again. If they ... morehTC has the recipe to make metal body awesome phones. they have to come up with the idea of metal body and wireless charging tech together. Recently they have invested more in useless gimmicks like squeeze actions that was expectedly not well received. they removed the audio jack which make the htc device undesirable to 3.5mm jack faithful. till now whatever they did are mostly futile approaches. hTC should totally change their marketing and management team and start from scratch. making a good phone is not as hard as understanding advanced string theory.

This is great news. Hope it doesn't have gloss back. I'd love to see a new metal phone from htc. They've had some really great ideas as phone pioneers

superpup, 04 Jun 2020I would love so much for HTC to be relevant again. If they ... moreWhat they need to do is kickstart their smartphones with a clear marketing strategy, like Nokia did in 2017. They need to focus on their strong points: HTC used to be well-known for their build-quality (at least how they felt, the one m9 bent like a spoon), come with a unique design (there is much to gain with metal unibodies, HTC was often compared as the Apple of Android) and save resources by offering consistent and clean android software.

I don't know if a budget/midrange phone is a good choice (unless it is really good value, which I don't see them doing now that they are making so much losses and transfered a lot of staff to make Google Pixels). A high-end phone would demand more publicity, and in my opinion, those were the ones that have been most iconic.

I would love so much for HTC to be relevant again. If they come out with a really good midrange that is a quality alternative to Chinabrand phones, they'll gain a lot of interest from people. Especially as things progress throughout the next year or so. Because the only other choices AFAIK are Sony, LG, and Samsung

People first need to realize that hardware spec sheet does NOT = better user experience (unless your main app of choice is Antutu), because nobody will be able to compete with phones that can sell top end chipsets for midrange prices cutting corners everywhere else that matters....

Still wait for the rise of HTC again. I am lost without HTC.

It should come with a newer and faster Mediatek chipset (e.g 800, 820, G90T) and it should have at least 3x optical zoom telephoto camera.

Well and the much lower price because if HTC thinks like with models from past 2 years selling a loow end device for 200 or lover midranger for 300-400 bucks make a hole on earth they are wrong.
Selling more and cheap is always better than selling less but more expensive.
