AMD has growing and growing its demand in TSMC-made processors and GPUs. Intel reportly will begin to use their foundries, to overcome current limits in its 10nm process. TSMC as THE leader foundry in the world, has little to worry, actually, can't keep up with the demand.

Jamsession, 10 Jun 2020Don't you know the only people bricking themselves are the ... moreWhat alternative? The only alternative in most countries outside China is Apple. HMS may be advertised, but no one is buying. Huawei tried selling 20 of their phones with HMS in Australia, and they still can't sell out.

Other alternatives include lineages with microg.

The issue with all these is that many apps, especially banking or Netflix requires the google safety net. If HMS or microg is not sufficient, then people will refuse a phone they can't actually use.

They are going round the world begging people to listen to them. They are such a laughing stock. The only guaranteed way of ridding US from the supply chain is to make them irrelevant. They are now no longer relevant. They tried with Google. Now there is an alternate. Huawei grown bigger.

Tsmc doesnt need huawei , huawei acting high and mighty telling everyone they can replace anyone but the truth is they are biting nails while shivering in the corner. Their safe haven market in china is also under threat by xiaomi.

All available wafer left out by Huawei will be sold to other customers, TSMC has a lot of customers, who are bidding fiercely for their cutting edge technology, for example: AMD, Apple, Nvidia, Qualcomm... to name just a few big ones.

Its not good for TSMC they have less bidding players for their wafers, which means they might profit less per sale now. Is that bad for TSMC? Not much but for the bidders its a massive win! :o

ARM, despite not being owned by a US company, cut ties with Huawei last year. The alternative, RISC-V, is an open source architecture, so the US can do fsck all to prohibit Huawei from using it but I'm not familiar with its current development status.

Huawei needs to build their own foundry & start manufacturing their own chips like how Samsung does. They're a giant company, they can do it. It will take time, but will ensure uninterrupted business going forward.

Yes, it is totally safe. The one starting trade war won't be in charge after this year anyway.
