10 June, 2012
The price of the smartphone/tablet dock bundle comes dangerously close to a four digit number.

OK, first of all, this device is not available in the US, so the price you see is actually very close to what you will have to pay in Europe, unlike other brands like Apple or Samsung, which sell price their products in the EU at a 1:1 dollar:euro conversion. Price is still a little high though, would pay 650 euros if I get Phone+Tablet Dock+Keyboard.

I wish more companies bundled their phones and tablets.

I really wanted for this combo to be a huge success, because it shows that even big comanies like Asus need to invest heavy in R&D to stay in the ever lasting game to please the customers.
But bad things struck this phone.
First it was not so great reviews like this one:
      http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/6/3064317/asus-padfone-review
And now the unusually high price, sadly the price isn't much lower for the UK market as some users here suggested, but it's in the line of £800+ if I remember correctly (page down when I wrote this):
      http://www.mobi-city.co.uk/asus-padfone-16gb-uk.html
It's just a premium some users won't agree to cash out.
At that price point you'll get a better specs phone+tablet combo on the current market. And to sync it all up use "DataSync" app from Play Store and same Google account.

PS: But on the "good" side, like any other Android device this combo from Asus will also lose its price very quickly!

Anonymous, 11 Jun 2012The article clearly states the prices quoted are for the U.... moreyes I saw that the prices are in USD but if you had done some simple maths you would see that I had simply converted the USD price to GBP. I bought my HTC One X from US so I know that prices are not that much cheaper than the UK. Thus, my comment still stands, there is very little chance of getting both a high end phone and high end tablet for that price. Simples

The Padfoe that Negri Electronics is the version sold in Asia and Australia. The 3G antennae in that device is incompatible carriers in North America (none of the NA carriers operate at 900/2100)

Any price you see in the UK will probably be inflated by the seller. You simply have to consider one thing; do you want one gadget instead of three? If the price is right I'll have one. This is very expensive. In my opinion the real price for new phones and tablets is 40% less. I have paid for my xperia arc 410 pounds 1 year ago, after 7 months the cost was 250 pounds.

"This kind of cash will easily land you separate Android smartphone and a tablet straight from the top shelf"
whoever writes this stuff should read before posting. The padfone costs £550 and it has specs similar to the HTC One XL which would cost you around £450 so that would leave you with £100 to buy an android tablet 'from the top shelf'. I'd love to know where I could one of them for £100. Please tell me GSMArena genius

Why would I buy Asus for Apple's price? I wouldn't buy Apple's tablet for that price either anyway.

Asus isn't even premium motherboard company. If I want something "premium" then I would rather go for Evga.

I liked the idea but at this price I just can't see the point.

without the phone the tablet is useless so you may as well carry a tablet and a phone - that way at least you'll be able to take calls whilst using the tablet. & synching issues shouldn't be a problem. With icloud whatever you do on your phone appears on your ipad & vice versa. & I'm sure there are similar sync programmes for Android too so I'd go for a high end tablet & a high end phone for the same money & have the best of both worlds...

or, as some have said - go for something like a galaxy note which seems a good compromise between the 2.
