    Fragmentation ....

The only reason the 3GS is still being supported - as crippling as it is - is so they can continue to flog it those people who want an iphone for a status symbol (baabaaa). Otherwise they'd get the newest version.

The original iPad has the same processor and RAM as the iPod Touch 4th generation, which can barely handle iOS 5. With the iPad's higher resolution, it becomes clear why Apple would leave it out of its next iOS update.

iphone 3gs and 4 have the same GPU the powerVR SGX535. problem is 3gs has 320*480 native resolution, iphone 4 has 640*960. so the iphone 4 doesn't have that much graphical performance, what has the 3gs...

hoooh! finally i can be relaxed. i thought Apple was, yet again, going to restrict the 3gs from getting the iOS6 treatment. i was planning on ditching my 3 year old iphone 3g ang buy a 3gs (i know, it's still old but that's all i can afford). it's good to know that Apple still cares for their customers as opposed by those fanboys who are already being threatened by this os update.

i wonder if we could get a glimpse of the much anticipated iPhone 5 (or whatever it's called). can't wait!

iphone 4 has 800MHZ not 1GHZ it says that is 1GHZ but it is downclocked at 800MHZ it says even on apple rumors

iPhone 3GS is 600MHZ & iPhone4 is 800MHZ(tamed down version of iPad 1) & not 1GHZ. but what we never account is the GPU's which is much better in iPhone 4 , also iOS is a kind of OS that uses both CPU & GPU together to bring a smooth expierience( other factors also contribute).
Now about the iPad 1 that's bad for the original users & yes it has 1GHZ processor & GPU clocked higher than iPhone4.

X-Samsung galaxy S i9000 user here. Bought this flagship model in 2010 n after 1 year n os update stopped. No official ICS. Reason hardware cant support. What a silly reason to sideline older models just after one year. I paid premium price to end up like this. Now i m using iphone 4s n also own an ipad 2. Might not be the best in every aspect but give me satisfaction n money well spent feeling. For 3gs to get an update is something that need to be appreciated coz this things dont happen so often in android world mainly samsung droids!

I never thought i can still get the new OS for my 2009 old phone. This is great. I have newest iPad and hardly use iPhone anymore so its nice to see that i dont need to buy newer model.

Thansk apple, you guys are doing great job and many will give you thump up today.

For first iPad users this suck but i guess the reason is iPad 1 hasnt been in stores for long time, its underpowered ( much bigger resolution than iPhone 3gs) so it needs more power to handle that, so it makes sense.
