Whackcar, 16 Jun 2020You don't know what you're talking about. Without HTC, Andr... moreAgree. Intelligent comment thanks

I an glad they released the u20, and the chip set is a great solid performer built on cool efficient small nanometres Major companies use this. Makes sense for everyday use and worth while cost save. Htc sense is great.
Welcome back, get some sales and build up.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2020It's the cool thing to do nowadays - to hate on Sony, LG, a... moreBecause they offer less for more. Most of their higher end phones are similar in performance to phones half their price but because of the brand name they charge a lot more. Sure you get better service and support but some of their pricing is just whacked.

Take the HTC U20 5G. It costs $640 in Taiwan. Compare it to a $269 MI Youth 5G. The MI has a OLED screen, has a tele camera which the HTC lacks and its less than half the price of the HTC. How many people will happily pay more than double for the HTC just because of the brand name ?

          OLED
          90Hz refresh rate
          Wifi 6
          stereo speakers
          Bluetooth AptX
          any IP rating
USB is 2.0 not even 3.1 lol my god

          and that back fingerprint sensor??

Why buy this ugly parts bin midrange Oppo/Honor 20 lookalike when I can get a Oneplus 8?

Kara Murat, 16 Jun 2020You talk about the past and the past is the past, today HTC... moreLol. HTC Vive is not a mistake. They provided a market for people who doesn't like Oculus and its association with Facebook which is many of them. They're also backed by Valve. Vive will make HTC thrive but phones won't. If they could've taken a risk by having a headphone jack and SD865 at a +$100 price of $700, they would've gotten a chance. The market is always on the flagship, not midrange. Look at Apple, always flagships and everyone's buying it. 5C failed because it's an outdated midrange and it shows that everyone wants a flagship.

It is nice to see HTC back. If they should have put a telephoto camera on the U it would be even better.

Without HTC, Andr... moreYou talk about the past and the past is the past, today HTC died because of a bad strategy when it had a big advantage its name and its cash compared to the new Chinese born, U 11, U12 + very good photophones but astronomical prices with very bright LCD screen and low battery and it's over, they sold their smartphone branch to Google now they have their VR headsets their big mistake instead of focusing only on smartphones

LCD screen, large chin I guess premium pricetag. Also: huge screen...what are manufacturers thinking? "let's produce whatever those other manufacturers are producing. But turn down something like the screen..." why? Theres Xiaomi and Realme putting out phone after phone filling all the mid-range needs with good design and affordable price. HTC needs more or fill a none filled niche (small phones e.g.?).

Because it is weird to see them giving IP68/stereo boom sound to U19e but not to U20.
