As a hardcore HTC fanboy, this the most disappointing, underwhelming release ever.

After nearly 2 years with nothing to show and this is what they come up with?? A bunch of outdated, overpriced, under spec and downright ugly design from a garbage parts bin? WTF

That French CEO just sitting there collecting big pay while doing jack sh*t. Even I can do a way better job than this POS trash of a phone.

Guys, Metal Bodied phones are impossible now with 5G being here. Metal frames with bands is okay but a full metal body on a flagship is asking for a death sentence due to bad 5G reception and zero wireless charging capabilities. If only there's a metal element that can do as good as glass does when it comes to smartphone features.

Both phones look quite ugly and dated with that big bottom bezel. The specs on the U20 are bad. Why HTC even bothers trying?

potato4k, 16 Jun 2020Pixel 5 using SD765: oh it's okay. decent performance HTC ... moreThere's nothing wrong with the 765G itself, the problem is that HTC is going to overprice as usual without offering anything more than the 'HTC' name... 60 Hz screen, LCD, macro/depth sensors just to fill the slots, Realme design ripoff, no IP or mil-spec rating.

If you compare it to e.g. Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth 5G, which costs 269$, it's basically the same phone except it's got worse displays and camera... And I'm 99% sure HTC is going to give it a price tag of well over 300$. That's the problem, not the chipset itself.

                        U12 8+256 price is USD640

I saw U20 in the title & thought HTC finally released a flagship again... Unfortunately it's just a midranger with nothing special about it. HTC's biggest fault was selling over half of their assets to Google back in 2016. They were making good phones until then (HTC 10, last metal flagship from HTC). HTC U11 & U12 had good cameras, but nothing else was special about them. They were very similar to Samsung/LG phones, and hence HTC lost their edge.

I have used many of their older flagships, and would love to have something like that again. I wonder if HTC would release something like that again... perhaps even a limited release.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2020trash again from this overrated company... i bet they canno... moreYou don't know what you're talking about. Without HTC, Android wouldn't be what it is today. Android was born on HTC, and it grew up alongside it. Not only that, HTC was the only premium competitor to Apple back then. Samsung phones were plastic trash back then. HTC built the most premium Android phones that were not like anything else on the market.

Yes they've tumbled over the years, but that can happen to anyone. Even Nokia crumbled. Calling these legendary companies "overrated" is just plain ignorant.

                                  U20 5G with height of 171.2mm... Cringe.

Anyway, HTC should try to go back its roots/golden days with a fullmetal builds, like with HTC 10... They're never going to make it by releasing these realme/xiaomi clones with mediocre hardware and premium price tag. Ain't nobody paying extra just for the three letters if the phone is being made in same sweatshop as those cheap chinese brands.

                                    The A71 5G is a bit overpriced.
                                    HTC: hold my beer.

design? not too bad, if a bit outdated.
                                      price? not good.

Im fine with sd765 .. but at least retained the features available on previous phone.. with that noticeable bottom bezel, htc could easily fits secondary speaker.

Im willing to trade two useless lens on the back for front firing speakers setup like the old days.. cmon htc..
