That is great news. I was wondering if Samsung Pay will ever launch in my country since they announced it (I think it was 2015?) but it never came... Now it would be quite simple. But I hope I will be able to collect Samsung Rewards points otherwise there is no point in it! No pun intended.

they do it so they will not be behind Apple, but it will be irrelevant, same as samsung pay which works for .0001% of countries, or EKG feature that works only in korea, Bixby which undestands less than any other assistant....

Should you be residing in the UK, it will be of note that N26 had opted to stop operating in the UK in early February due the UK’s decision to leave the EU.
As a result, N26 will be closing its UK operation over the coming months to focus on growing its customer base in both the EU and the US.
Samsung would have been aware of N26's pending exit from the UK market, which reduced the choice of fintech operations Samsung could partner with, somewhat simplifying Samsung's decision.

well, I have been using Curve in UK on S Pay since last November when I added it. It's certainly good to know it will be rebranded as Samsung Pay Card and can be used for all major European countries.

Nice to see Samsung finally find a way past the bank cartels blocking any type of competition and innovation. Too bad the EU haven't bothered dealing with the banks yet.
I just wished they'd chosen N26 instead of Curve. Now it seems like I have to sign up for one more mobile bank. :P

Well, actually, you can't!
Unless you reside in UK, at least.
I am user of Curve card for almost a year now, and also a user of Samsung pay eligible phone, and nope, no soup for me, cause I live on the continent.
There are some workarounds with changing CSC to the UK based ones (BTU/XEU and such) on hardware part of things and falsifing yor whereabouts to Curve to get things sorted, but that is not how things should be done in this day and age.
My main interest in SPay is possibility to use it with Galaxy Watch for NFC payments (don't really care about health/sport related features of the watch), but my dear Samsung, I am not spending 300$ on your wrist gadget unless this kinda works in legit and proper way, as it should.
