Weekly poll: Is iOS 14 a worthy upgrade? Can it make you switch?

28 June 2020
Some are Android-like, others are things that Android needs. And it's coming to millions of old phones, something Android 11 can't say.

Wily2020, 28 Jun 2020Wow, lot of people thinking to switch to iOS from Android, ... moreI love app drawers on Android phones and tablets, and hate notches and a lack of app drawers on Apple devices.

Ensutiat, 28 Jun 2020This poll seems incomplete i wish there was an poll option to select, that reads: "I could care less, about iPhone OS versions" .

While iOS 14 is a step in the right direction, it still needs a lot of work to convince Android fans, in my opinion. An app drawer is a MUST, for example. Still, there are some other inconveniences, such as Google Photos only backing-up images and videos made with the iPhone's camera. That's a big downside for me, because I take a lot of screenshots and screen captures, which I want backed-up.

Then there's the actual hardware. It needs USB-C, slimmer bezels and a notch-less display (punch hole is OK, in my opinion, but not a „classic“ notch). MicroSDXC support would definitely help too. Also, AMOLED in all price points. And, speaking of prices, make them fair in Europe.

Please Apple, i recommend you to bring one more feature
A feature that will beat all others in this amazing update
In the Photos application, bring an option to "move photos to folder" which wont copy that pic to a folder but cut it from all photos to that particular folder.

Why do I have to choose if I can have both. Each has their pros and cons, and I used to only have Android phones from Samsung until they started punching holes on them, lol. Went back to school for another degree and almost everone is using IOS and everyone just airdrops everything, so I got ky first iPhone, lol again. Fast forward, my second hand iPhone 6s is still faster than my note 8 but battery is blah. I love the seamless integration of IOS, IPad OS, and MAC OS, therefore I got the apple watch. I did not have the same good experience with android devices and google OS, or windows. Working with a MAC and use my IPad as a secondary screen is a plus. You also get. All notifications on all apple devices which is a big plus. Conclusion, it’s up to you how you are using the devices.

It's good that Apple is catching up with the realities on phone users experience. I was an Apple iPhone user before I stayed away from their backwardness on users experience unlike Android. I would wait for a year or two before if I can get an iPhone again.

Some of us think iOS and iphones are great but we don't wish to support the company that makes them. All companies make products to make money while providing a useful product to their customers. Apple is the only company that makes every single effort they can to squeeze more money from their customers while in some cases even removing features or options. This has consequences in the android sphere as well, since manufacturers like to copy apple, even though customers don't want them to follow apple. Reduced I/O on laptops to sell dongles, headphone jack removal to create a multi billion dollar cash cow, non expandable memory, abysmally incremental hardware upgrades and that ugly notch are examples of apple's courage.

ios 13? I would have switched to android because of that. Used iPhone till '16 as primary and android ever since.

iOS needs freedom, the reasons that keeps me away from iOS are:
                              - Strict and complicated relations with other devices
                              - Lack of ability of big customisations.
                              - Restricted user acess to folders.
                              - Inability to install apps from third parties.

Apple is just copying old Android features. Eventually, they may even start offering different launchers to customize the home screen.

No. I love Android. It's not perfect. What is? But I love how robust in customization it is.

iOS14 is a great update, it does make you feel the phone differently that people are used to even if it looks exactly the same. But as an android user, I don't feel the atraction to it. I mean, I can't say thanks to Apple for letting the people choose which app you use in default browser, It's embarrassing that until 2020 you couldn't do that, the same as the widgets, which has been around in Apple for a while, but stuck in mini places where people never used. If you are into Android, and you like the freedom Android gives you comparing it to iOS, iOS14 is nowhere near to be a choise to change.
