Yeah nice try considering we get closer to desktop experience every day. Especially love THE CHOICE of flash. and Opera definitely runs circles around competition.

At least we all know that sening a certain mesage to a WP will completely crash it's messaging app and then crash the whole OS. Nice security flaw microsoft.

So many odd comments I won't reply to. Odd if you think in 12 months times that users moving from XP will go to Windows 7 and not Windows 8.
Windows 8 does actually offer more functionality. Quite ignorant to say otherwise.

The problem is caused because there is no gesture for draging an object. The software needs to know the size of the screen and move the object rather than scrolling. In iOS it is possible. Puffin browser does it in iOS.

The Google project has stated many times that there is no interest in matching desktop browser functionality. That is laughable for Google as that means missing browser functionality for primary browser focused devices.

                    win 98 good
                    win me bad
                    win xp good
                    vista bad
                    win 7 good
                    win 8 probably bad.
There's no need at the current market status for windows 8, nobody will upgrade to it when windows 7 is doing a perfect job. just look at how amazing windows xp is. It's still got a massive share world wide becaues people got used to it and figured out all it's kinds and flaws and how to make it better. Windows 7 is just barelly setting in, i just dont see how anyone will jump for joy with windows 8 when it only brings a few improvements like that metro thing. which isn't realy an improvement depending on personal likes and style.
So i think windows 8 for desktop will come and go just like Vista.
And to expand that to the mobile world. windows 8 doesn't have anything going for it. There's nothing there except limitations.

Also people complaining about a tiny bit of lag on android shoudl remember how Nokia touch phones that were labeled as saleable and flagships were....totaly unresponsiv and choppy. And now people complain about a 1/10 of a second lag ? Really. I prefer an OS that doesn't tell me what i'm allowed to do as opposed to an OS thats 1/10 of a second smoother, note not faster thats two different things, but annoys me with its '90 limitations.

Note: I am an Android user not a MS/Nokia fanboy.

I agree that Nokia's big revival will most probably be on the back of Windows 8. A familiar uniform standard interface on both your PC and phone is bound to be a winner. Put it on a large or small device and the tile concept works. The immediate adaptation when you add a mouse etc is pretty damn good.
I am an Android user but Google have given away my details without my specific permission far to many times. It's just starting to seem outright underhand (and that's understating it).

I also find Android incredibly annoying as a tablet UI in that browsers can not match the functionality available on a Microsoft/Apple laptop or desktop. The browser is the main application on a tablet. That's a fail for Android.

ICS is a great thing for Nokia and Microsoft. It's just a bloated move in the wrong direction. Phones get larger to include more power so Google go and make a bloated OS to keep things spiralling in the wrong direction.
Nokia will drop Symbian and go Win 8 for everything. It's hard to see any business running Win 8 on desktops not also specifying Win 8 for all their tablets and phones. A huge proportion of population will become familiar with Win 8. Many people will find it simpler (and people do want simple because Apple have taken huge market shares providing simple) to use a consistent UI.

I like the fact that we will have more than just two main OSs. The more the better. Just two is not so healthy.
Nokia should succeed with Win8 and Nokia are a great vehicle for Microsoft to spread it's use.

A lot of Android trolls here. I can see Windows Phone 8 take top market share in two years. No OS can stay on top forever. There is always a new innovative OS comes along, that new OS is Windows Phone. The Metro UI in Windows Phone is already in Xbox and Windows 8. Imagine you can create apps and deploy between them easily from desktop, laptop, tablet, console and smartphone. Android doesn't even utilize multicore. Windows RT running ARM processor is already crazy fast that no Android could match. Windows Phone 8 will put those Android's multi core to shame. Single core on WP has no lag that are found in Android quadcore.

Developers have been making apps for Windows Phone with 512MB of ram then all of sudden there is a new Tango with new api and new 256MB of RAM. That's why 1.6% of the 100,000 apps don't work with the new Lumia 610. Android is not stable as iOS and Windows Phone because of all those manufacturers' skins and so many different varieties of hardwares. I have had many android phones and have used iOS and WP. What good is starting fast to crash more frequently later? Let me give you a gist of the phones I use on a day to day basis. I have my 2690 for when I go to places like the beach, mountain, bars, adventuring basically anyplace that I could either lose or damage my phone. I use my n9 for school and when I got to the library and education activities and I use my new gs3 when I want to show off. Like parties, functions, etc. I used to always have my n900 but the screen is cracked so its basically useless. My friends have iphones, gs2's, htc's and mostly blackberries. So yeah. We trade phones from time to time to see how each other's phones work and most of them want my n9 and ask me why I bought the gs3. To that I say because its the best. :-) its the only phone I dont trade. Haha. So just so you know I've used plenty of phones and I find myself using my 2690 alot but mostly because my n900 is basically a 27gb flash drive with tv out capabilities. Oh! I compare my 2690 to my brother's samsung gt s3370l and he hates it
