I have and still use the original Pixel so this would be an upgrade for me and 2. I really want to retain a headphone jack that the flagship phones don't do any longer. And 3. It'll be more affordable to upgrade. :)

Many Android phones tend to work faster when more RAM is allocated and in use. Which is a reason that some lower end phones actually run slower after using a RAM cleaner.

4GB of RAM is enough for now BUT 6GB is maybe more futureproof. Don't understand that Google is using 4GB in this price range, while phones that cost less than 300 euro's do have 6GB of RAM (not all of them, but they are existing). Google is just overpriced and outdated before even launched. Also, why only one camera? We don't live in 2015

Looks like we have to wait till the Pixel 6 in 2021 to get the 5nm Snapdragon 875. Since the Pixel 5a will most likely have a midrange SoC. Meanwhile, Apple will have the 5nm A14 chip this year, and other Android phone makers will have Snapdragon 875 in their flagship phones after MWC 2021. And from where I am, Samsung phones only have the inferior Exynos.
7nm die size reduction to 5nm is a huge improvement. That's about 29% size reduction. Expect massive improvements in battery life and performance.
