Even among android one series.

my favourite smartphone for its compact size and features almost rivalling that of the ubiqutous samsung galaxy s9

Perhaps Pixel 3a sales have gone down a bit recently, but that would only be the Osborne Effect: that people have been waiting (in vain) for the Pixel 4a.
Personally, I just want a Pixel 3a with slightly updated guts. The 4a is ugly.

Google have discontinued a great phone in one year, it seems it did not gain popularity over time

I always thought what Google does - discontinues previous gen of phones only a month or two after the current gen is released is batshit crazy. But somehow Google managed to take it to the next level - they discontinued the current gen of phones before the next one is released. In fact, we don't even know that it ever will be. Officially, Google hasn't said a word about 4a.

Sepfian, 02 Jul 2020I dont know what is it, but I appreciate this policy by google. Google want to make a way for the upcoming Pixel 4a, so it makes perfect sense to discontinue older models.

Google should discontinue all mobile division and focus only on software.

Discontinuing in 1 year seems poor acceptability by market
