Legacy devices denied WP8, offered WP7.8 instead

In WP 7 Zune is the main problem while transferring data from PC to mobile. Its very slow to transfer.
Comparatively WP 8 has mass storage feature. Can you provide mass storage feature in WP 7 phone.
One thing to think, Whats the benefits after purchasing costly smartphone of Windows if it is not up-gradable. Today they are some problems in WP7 and they launched WP8 but WP7 is not up-gradable. Likewise tomorrow if they will launch WP9 then WP8 will be wastage of money. But this is not the case with Android.

guys please. although older iphones like 3gs can run the latest iOS, it's not getting all the updates. MS is just being honest to its users by providing tango. open your eyes.

I think this is a good approach even though slightly disappointing. At least there won't be any LAG issues as seen on some other phones after an update to a newer OS. Since the older phone does not have a lot of the hardware, the new OS will bloat the operating system, making it either very inefficient or take up more storage space. By making 7.8 available, they are showing support for their current devices - a good move I feel in customer support.

wp users dont compare an upadate of $650 lumia 900 to an $200 of an android phone, android is offering value for money, actually you have to compare lumia 900 to samsung s3 or s2 or htc x3.... customers is different from fans.., customers will not buy ur product once they feel cheated, fans(fools) will buy whatever the case, companies are targetting only customers not fools , sorry fans.microsoft and nokia knows the current windows phone is not upgradable to wp8.., why they didn't say it atleast b4 2 months.., they hide the truth and cheated customers.., as a matter of fact i exchanged my lumia 900 and said good bye...

Three months later they were last year's toy. Leaves a pit in your stomach. Refused to buy ipods since. I'm on luckier side this time, my wp7 contracts up soon and I can get a wp8.

Microsoft should be ashamed all of us that bought lumia, htc or omnia phones feel that Microsoft abandoned us, we spent money on a high end device for what? we don´t even got support for windows 8, i feel like many others, that this platform left us on the beach, guys with 1st gen WP, won´t get 7.8, and the people that beated on WP 2 gen, DON´T GET windows 8, so i ask this wouldn´t we be better served with apple that lets iphone 3gs run latest IOS, or samsung droids like S2 and S3 that give us 2 year support, S2 runs android 4.0, for me i´m really considering leaving WP for good, after this MS doesn ´t care about users that left android or IOS for WP, so what´s the point on beeing on this platform...

Microsoft gave the same reason when transited from Windows Mobile 6.x to WP7.x, that compatibilities cannot be carried over due to some technology & hardware change... & now the same answer from WP7.x to WP8.
Microsoft only try creating business by selling new Device & never take care of the old & loyal customers.

Well, if Nokia knew this before they released the WP7, you can surely ask them for changing your WP7 to the WP8 with some decent price. But only if you can prove it.

Not one phone went from 5 to 6, not one from 6 (or 6.1) to 6.5 or 6.5 to 7 and now 7.x to 8. If you buy a Lumia phone today you now know for an absolute certainty that within a few months it will be outdated with no update path and you will be stuck with it, if you got it on a long term (18 or 24 month) contract as most people do.

Nokia could have destroyed every other mobile h/w manufacturer had it went with Android or with both Android and MS. Someone on top of Nokia's operations is really out of his mind ;)

Wow, it's actually pretty hilarious and scary at the same time. I still remember Microsoft people pointing fingers at how some older devices didn't get an official upgrade to the latest Android (so far I think there's no phone that doesn't have an unofficial one). I'm sure that far more changed between Android 2.x and 4.0 than between those WP releases yet most modern phones got an update. Even low end devices did - look at Sony and their 2011 mini line.
