I know it's safe but I still wouldn't like to stand in front of a data beam sending a movie in a fraction of a second.

saddameu, 19 Jul 2020yes, i still think is useless, 6 inch screens are not made ... morewho said i watch movies on my phone?? nobody, I said I download them to my phone, in actual fact, i usually use my phones 5G connection to tether my laptop and download them that way most of the time, but when I travel, i often download straight to my phone as well, i do not have home broadband anymore because my phone is faster then my home connection, granted I could pay extra to get a bit faster, but for now my phone easily surpasses my internet, and unlimited 5G speeds for £21/$25 per month, for a lot of people, there absolutely is a need for a faster connection, if you dont have it or need it, thats fine for you, but for me this an absolute valuable connection, and makes several aspects of my life, easier, faster, and cheaper, so its a total win, the only downside is the coverage because its in its infancy, but again, downloading at crazy speeds means i dont risk losing coverage most of the time

Even watching a movie on your phone for a 4k content you need less than half the speed of 4g to stream it. and you must be having a pretty bad 4g connection if it needs 2 hours on 4g and 5 mins on 5g when real life speeds are much closer than carriers wants us to think, high speed 5g will be a rarity even when will be common.

Now they're hyping up 5G & 6G when they should completely shutdown 2G, 3G and 4G altogether if they want to reduce harmful radiation and free up invisible spectrum which they supposedly spend billions on...

Telecom providers were never transparent or customer honest businesses in the first place.

Their networks are not encrypted, easily spoofed by rogue cell towers, all information about you, your phone specs, your calls, messages is logged and passed on to 3rd parties only to be easily exposed by government agencies to track you down in an instant, no privacy or protection whatsoever.

Also look at what happened to a dedicated network like encrochat which was focused complete anonymity and people paid 1200+ for a half year of service.

greenarcher02, 15 Jul 2020Yeah cost and infrastructure is really a huge factor. Here ... morethat happened in the UK as well, the first 5G was home broadband, dont quite understand why but it seems a lot of countries started with a home broadband network

Real.Talk, 15 Jul 2020" 4g has reached its peak capacity, cant handle curren... morecan you provide such a claim to that statement? i find it hard to believe that telecoms companies spending tens of billions of £/$ in purchasing new spectrum and then restrict its capacity by not allowing full usage? I can think of several carriers that have cited 4g starting to bottleneck, many have recycled their old 3g network spectrum to compensate and increase capacity.
my own network even sent me such information when i complained about the reduction in speed, my town has several masts, but its only small and during tourist season, the bump up in numbers of users hits the capacity so bad that even web browsing becomes impossible, they told me that they simply cannot handle the volume of users and data, and that new spectrum and antennas would be deployed at an unknown time in the future which will increase speed/connectivity/capacity/latency/bottlenecks, so yes i believe that 4G has reached its peak, 5Gwill probably not arrive in my town for about another 5 years, roughly how long it took for 4G to arrive after its release, but the new network will allow for 100X the capacity of most current highest 4G networks

Telecoms have been ripping people off with their over priced phones and contracts for years and they're sitting on so much cash and yet can't properly roll out a problem-free infrastructure anywhere in the world.

errr... neither 3G & 4G combined were ever rolled out to ever reach full capacity. Telecoms never wanted any network generation to reach its full potential in the first place because they never invested into the infrastructure as much as they should have to actually offer reasonable service close to the spec sheet so yeah...

There's developed countries, undeveloped countries, developing countries. You can't expect everyone move at the same pace. Your luck living in 3G only country. Some advanced country lucky enough with full 5G coverage. Like South Korea. No reason for them not to push 6G now. It's their country, not yours. If you left behind then so be it.

Here in the Philippines one carrier/ISP doesn't even offer 5G sim cards. Instead they offer "Home 5G" which doesn't make much sense, mainly because fiber internet is getting cheaper and more widespread, and the original point of 5G was to have super fast mobile internet anywhere. The only thing it does for them I guess is they didn't have to get permits to deploy fiber optic cables. But from a consumer standpoint, seems like a bad deal altogether.
