Whackcar, 15 Jul 2020Screw that. Install Opera & enjoy free VPN. (unless you... moreFree VPNs have serious security concerns. Do you think running the infrastructures and the VPN servers is free? NO .
You will pay for it in exchange for your data. My advice: If you really need privacy online an option is a reputable PAID VPN.

Wow, the comment section is being so darned st***d!

Do you people realize that Mozilla is just rebranding and selling Mullvad, which is pretty much the most privacy oriented consumer VPN?

And you people are seriously comparing this with sh*t from Opera and Norton?!! *facepalm*
Not to mention all the rave about the deal with Google for default search engine which basically says what it is in the name itself. And here people are, saying Google gets whatever they want just because they got into a default service deal. *double facepalm*

Like they clapped and their you go, a server farm ready to connect 1 million Users for freeee?eee? Then they clapp again every mounth to pay the people that maintain those servers, just for you to have it for freeee. Actually you should be glad it is not free...

apprise, 15 Jul 2020And you think using tor on its own is completely safe lol. ... moreActually tor got way better then it was. Everything it does goes through the tunnel. Even UDP requests. So yeah DNS does not and should not leak anymore. Their are better ways to use tor then VPN. I would not trust any VPN. Their is way to much data they get hold on to...

Bleh. I just deleted FF and moved to Brave.

Mozilla started sending me BLM propaganda. I don't need my browser to get political too.

geek-a-contra, 16 Jul 2020ok, so i have to choose between an almost free vpn service ... moreWhile it's a heck of a one-time payment, I'd rather host my own VPN server with Firewalla. If Amplify ever releases an app for Windows, Mac, and Linux with Teleport, that's a possibility too.

I thought I would use Opera Free VPN to secure my communications with African warlords and sell them bunch of AK-s, which have been laying in my backyard for months already (pandemic hit my business hard).

(unless you... moreok, so i have to choose between an almost free vpn service from mozilla (under a contract with google to use google as main search machine, yet under, at least declarative, legal democratic control) and a " free" vpn service from opera (under an ocult chinese control...). have a wild guess: who am i going to choose?

p.s. don't worry, i'll choose none, i got the vpn service as part of an antivirus/firewall subscription with norton...

VPN's aren't a miracle all in one solution for shielding you.. they are just 1 step in the right direction though there's more steps involved to strengthen that first step.

just an FYI, google is the no.1 sponsor/funder of Mozilla.
Anything info that was collected to their server is being given to google lols same sh****

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2020Why VPNs aren't free?Because it costs to maintain all the infrastructure and staff?
You can get free VPN out there. They are going to make money with your data.
Or would you offer your work with all the expenses for free for your users?

the whole population on this earth should learn to pay for stuff like apps again.
Not everything can be free. Not everything that is free is good.
Thanks to the way we people consume, there are tons of freemium and pay-to-win games for example.

Screw that. Install Opera & enjoy free VPN. (unless you're upto no good, their VPN does what any non-hostile person would need to use a VPN for).
