AnonD-834088, 19 Jul 2020These fast charging times are insane, something has got to ... moreThe real reason for fast battery degradation is heat, if fast charging is cool and fast there is not much to worry about and even if you slow charge battery will still degrade (about 10% per year I think)
But look at the entire picture, a few years ago we had small batteries with slow charging so you would normally have to charge twice a day means faster degrade
Now you have large batteries with fast charging which usually last a day with heavy usage so now you have to charge once a day meaning slower degradation and even if a 5000mah battery degrades by 20% per year you will still have 4000mah which is again good enough for a days usage compared to 3500mah which degrades to 2800mah which will barely last a day with low usage
And I am quite sure if you charge a 5000mah with 5W charger it will take too long and with long charging your phone will heat more compared to 40W which will need only an hour to charge your phone

      Oneplus never gave an device with an 512 GB memory configuration. I would rather have an 8/512 Config than an 12/256 config

I'd rather have the convenience of fast charging. As long as the capacity of the battery is big enough, even if it degrades by 5%, you're still left with a battery that can last all day. I think people have been put off previously by phones with tiny batteries.
