20 July 2020
This will be the fastest charging speed yet. The phone also promises the most powerful speakers on a phone and more.

J. , 20 Jul 2020Charge in 30 minutes and kill it in 10 months This isn't Sony, LG, Apple with their inferior 18W charging tech that heats up battery within seconds.

But still at that price, here in romania, I grabbed a black shark 2 8gb+128gb. Great phone (still own like 6 more, never been my main one, but in pubg it fares great)

Considering Android Authority's article about Oppo's VOOC charging and alleged 120W charger, this is going to be a bad idea. (Oppo has already provided a statement of battery degradation, it doesn't look too promising in the long run)

This one may not be around 400€ but shouldn't be over 500€ realistically if it wants to do well in this market. Also RoG has its own fan base as well as ecosystem. The competition is tough here

cheapsk8, 20 Jul 2020Fundamentally, what's the catch to having 2 batteries ... moreI doubt there's any current flowing between cells, there must be a balancing controller.

I think the reason is quicker degradation of smaller batteries. Maybe they've reached a point where charging algorithms are so successful at keeping the stress low that there's not that much concern for degradation. Or maxbe they no longer care about killing batteries as the market demands more speed constantly.

Also there can't be phones with an sd865 this cheap (I think 40k is 450 euros?) and you wish an sd865+ with quite revolutionary specs be this cheap? I don't care how price sensitive indians are (we europeans are also quite price senstive, everybody is) you can't sell a phone for just a few bucks over the production price

Fundamentally, what's the catch to having 2 batteries in parallel? Because if there is no downside, this is not 'technology' but 'textbook', i.e. why didn't they do this sooner? The only thing I could think of is the potential of higher loss to heat dissipation. Those batteries are constantly trying to charge each other, creating futile circuit whenever there is a voltage mismatch between the two (from fully charged at 4.4V down to fully discharged at 3.7V).

I feel its great because, due to the demand of the consumers and the stiff competition in their market; the consumer actually gets phones which are generally cheaper compared to other markets. If this phone and all its variants has to sell it should be priced between Rs 33-40k maximum.
