21 July 2020
But not TVs. Still, the plan is cheaper than the traditional streaming plan that that does include TV support (especially if you want HD).

i think Spotify should partner with netflix. because paying for netflix alone is not worth it. netflix is good but way too overpriced. Spotify is okay but you have so many other options so why pay. so if they partner it will be benifits for both. cheaper plans and more content

ulzzang, 21 Jul 2020i want 4K on mobileBut very few smartphones have a native 4K screen. Up to this point, only Sony is daring enough to put it on their smartphones. Also, wouldn't that be a bit useless if you only have a 1080p or 1440p screen? Any 4K TV series or movies that you want to watch will shrink to those resolutions eventually iirc.

James Whister, 21 Jul 2020Means we cannot screen mirror it to TV? Netflix's original programming has become garbage, with PC quantity way up, but quality way down. I am about to cancel my subscription and wouldn't miss it even if it was free.

Mobile+ costs more than the family sharing. But if you can't find friends to share the bill or demanding privacy, then Mobile+ is a good choice because it includes PC.

Smart TV is kinda 50:50 for me because i only can watch family-friendly series/movies in TV 😂😂😂

ulzzang, 21 Jul 2020i want 4K on mobileExactly. Netflix/digital and film studios should allow 4K resolution offline downloads to mobile phone storage (micro sd or internal storage).

Downloading the content in 4K (if it were possible) on free Wi-Fi in hotels or elsewhere and viewing those offline 4K downloads later by mirroring on a big 4K TV will really give the best viewing experience with the least cost (mobile data or paid Wi-Fi not necessary) to users regardless of their network/internet connectivity. 4K won't look much different from 1080p on small mobile phone screens but the reason to have offline downloads at that 4K resolution on mobile devices is to ensure maximum quality and enjoyment when it's mirrored to large screen 4K TV's.

Apparently, film and digital studios and Google are 'afraid' of piracy (even if the content are already encrypted) so they don't allow it at all. You can only stream 4K, wasting internet data every time you watch and re watch the movie and the streaming stutters heavily or the video quality is downgraded badly if you don't have high speed mobile or broadband connection at home. Allowing offline 4K downloads and allowing screen mirroring of 4K content would have solved that problem but no, Google and those studios want people to waste data and pay and pay so it's actually corporate greed that's the main reason not to allow it rather than piracy since the content is already DRM encoded/encrypted/copy and playback protected in the first place.

"SD and even HD (presumably 720p) won’t look good on a large TV display, but the difference between SD and HD should be visible even on a mobile screen."

Something is SERIOUSLY WRONG with this statement. The difference between SD and HD is visible even on a mobile phone screen but SD wouldn't look as bad in a small mobile phone screen than when viewed on a large screen tv where SD would look absolutely horrible compared to HD (even if only 720p). Therefore, there is every reason to have HD (even if it's 720p only) on the phone because it makes the viewing experience when mirrored on a large screen TV so much better than if it were SD resolution only.

Big TV screens MAGNIFY differences in resolution while small phone screens make those same differences less glaring and more tolerable. The quoted statement seems to imply the EXACT OPPOSITE which is seriously wrong.
