AMD unveils Ryzen 4000G desktop APUs, but they are only for OEMs for now

21 July 2020
The company will release the new APUs direct to consumers "soon", but didn't say when or how much they will cost.

Vegetaholic, 22 Jul 2020For now, Arm already pretty much caught up with x86 and it ... more"Arm will offer powerful x86 type hardware which will be 10 times more efficient."

Power consumption scales exponentially with frequency. At desktop frequencies ARM cores won't be anywhere near 10x efficient.

Adul Al Salami Kebab, 22 Jul 2020Sorry but even in 7 years time I did not see much improveme... morewhat do you mean stability? X360 was using powerful Power PC architecture for its day XboxOne was using weak laptop x86 cpu even for its day, technicaly both processor had roughly same peak performance from cpu. So this was awful upgrade, obviously reason they went with such a weak cpu on xbox one and ps4 was efficiency as 360 and ps3 had awful termals and all those red ring of death stories.

But in my opinion PS6 will be already Stadia type cloud based service, considering global internet stucture could move on to fiber fast enough. As having cloud based processing power will kill the need to release physical consoles, and developers, will get much more computational power to use for their games, bringing photo realism in dynamic worlds in no time.

ARM is energy efficient architecture for dedicated tasks. x86 is a universal beast that provides much more capabilities than ARM.

Intel is in serious danger now.

These are just Zen 2 based APUs, not interesting enough for the tech enthusiasts. We are still waiting for AMD Zen 3-based processors later this year.

I wonder if PS6 or PS7 will come with ARM or RISC Instruction based custom Architecture.

Over the past 5 years GPU power has increased by 150% but CPU has only increased by 31%

                          X86 is a living fossil.

AMD has been very innovative in past 3 generation of Zen architecture.

Intel is really having tough time competing.

Its surprising how tables have turned in last 3-4 years
