Anonymous, 23 Jul 2020I was expecting Pocofone with Dimensity 820 & Dimensity 1000Me too...
I think the POCO brand deserve:
1. The best CPU at that time.... which is now the SD865
2. The best CPU in price/performance ration.... which is now the D820/D1000

Anonymous, 23 Jul 2020Yes that's awesome. But naming should be a little easy... moreI would dissolve Redmi and Poco brands. Brand value is too much compromised. Just Mi A, Mi N, Mi K and Mi.

No 2 models in each series, just one that is 4 phones a year. And if need be additional one or 2 (S) if new tech released later in year.

Mi - Flagship (Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro)

I don't care about the rebranding if it's priced aggressively, but at least care enough to name it sensibly!!
Poco F1, F2 Pro, X2, M2 Pro, C3???!!!! Do they themselves know which name they will choose next? Or is it some kind of a lucky draw?
I am beginning to hate Poco now!

pixel user, 22 Jul 2020C3 probably means a copy of 3 redmi siblings which are Redm... moreMaybe they are trying to compete with realme c3!
                      Both are entry level smartphones.
                      Both are under 10k.
                      Realme c3 vs Poco c3.

Why does Xiaomi need to have 3 brands and 3000 phones a year?

A wiser marketing strategy (that would build brand loyalty and brand value) would be to have one company, one brand and max 5-6 launches a year. It's more than enough.

Keep the specs so good that your competitors cannot catch up for at least 6 months is not a year. If I had to run Xiaomi it would be one brand Xiaomi with Xiaomi C (budget < INR 10000) Xiaomi N (midrange < INR 15000) Xiaomi X (flagship killer < INR 25000) and Xiaomi Z (flagship < INR 40000).

Apple have been doing this successfully for the past few decades now and till date no one except Samsung have been able to catch up. Garbage marketing strategy.

The only thing Xiaomi Redmi and Poco have been doing for the past 2 years is rebranding and relaunching existing devices under a different brand.

In the process they have destroyed brand value of all 3 brands. Their strategy is simple to understand....

                            1) Launch a great first product with amazing specs and amazing price. 2) Increase the prices for subsequent versions giving blah blah blah reasons. 3) Reduce specifications, quality and longevity of devices with every subsequent release.

Case in point Xiaomi & Redmi. Xiaomi when it launched in 2012 was priced at about 15000 INR. They gradually kept on increasing the prices and had to launch a new brand Redmi. I remember the first Redmi Note had a Japanese JDI display. Till Redmi Note 4 the phones had aluminium build (AKA iPhone). This was replaced by ever thinner and thinner glass. The latest Redmi Note 9 has a plastic back. And it's now prices close to where the original Xiaomi was priced.

The story repeats with Redmi and Poco. Poco 1 was a great groundbreaking phone. Now see the state of affairs. Virtuallly every Poco or Redmi phone is a rebranded device that has not sold well in certain region.

So not only you get higher profits with every new version on account of higher price but also cheaper internals. If you ask me Xiaomi will be dead in 5 years. They are digging their own graves.

all hail to the Poco F1 the one and only true Pocophone in smartphone history

If you are very bore and sad the whole day then just watch how Poco rebrand phone then you will die laughing.

So Poco will be just a mishmash of rebadged Redmi and Mi phones.
                                        What a waste.

Realme is already killing Xiaomi slowly.
