Weekly poll: is the OnePlus Nord a great phone or just overhyped?

26 July 2020
OnePlus entered the mid-range market to offer an option to those who can't keep up with the ever-rising costs of its flagships.

Also, they are still not supposed to look for last year smartphone prices. Todays midrangers are $450-$500 so $400 is reasonable.

    This should be called the one plus website, thays all they ever talk about here, this is a mediocre phone

      PartTimePhoner, 26 Jul 2020It costs $400 so it definitely is a decent phone. But peopl... moreThe problem is that for $400 I can get a true 2019 flagship smartphone in my country. I believe it's always better to have last year flagship rather than this year midranger.

        Midrange
        2015 = 200$
        2017 = 250$
        2020 = 400$
        2030 = 1000$++

                  It costs $400 so it definitely is a decent phone. But people are gonna complain that "it cant beat last years midrangers" as if they didnt have a year to begin with already. Dont expect conpanies to price their phones acckrding to 1 year old devices

                    It is horribly overpriced...Just compare spec by spec with a Realme 6 pro & then you will understand. 765G is nothing but a overclocked 730G....

                      Although OnePlus Nord is decent, I think Moto G 5G Plus deserves some attention too. It is essentially giving the same specs at a lower price point. I know it misses out on an OLED display & OIS, but you do get a larger battery & headphone jack in return.

                      OnePlus Nord received so much hype & attention. I think it would be unfair to other good phones to go unnoticed because of it.

                        I really don´t get it how people keep complaining about this phone in particular. If you really need an 800-series processor you´ll have to pay the flagship prices. How do people complain about midrangers having flaws? Ofc they have for pricing and marketing reasons. Imagine OnePlus released an 800 series phone with a 90 Hz OLED display for 400$. That´s cannibalism. Imo the Nord cuts the right corners and will give people that use their phone for standard daily activities and mediocre gaming (who gives a damn about mobile gaming anyway?) a very nice OnePlus experience for 3 years and beyond. The price in europe for 400€ in most countries is insane for what you get in this flawless day-to-day experience and anyone who is complaining doesn´t deserve a midranger but has to put in the 1000$ it takes to get the real flagship performance.

                          Luxor, 26 Jul 2020Oneplus Nord is more like OnePlus NOT! Overhyped by paid re... moreProfit focus brand? I am pretty sure they got into smartphone race because they thought could make a profitable business from it. The idea they they would need to be a charity that makes almost no profit is a joke. You think BBK would have finance them if they knew would make no profit? I don't really care for their phones but I find people like you a joke. Why don't you got work for free and see how much fun you will have.

                            Wow the polling result. While yes, it was not worth of the hype, it is still decent phone for 400 euro though Poco F2 looming large at 500 euro.

                                Overhyped. To be a flagship killer, it must have the latest SD8xx processor and contains specs that are better than the most expensive flagship available at such a cut throat price that could be considered as a loss (aka. sold at Manufacturer's price and advertisements are just word of mouth). The Nord is just a premium midranger sold at $450-ish dollars and it doesn't kill flagships.

                                ZTE Axon 7, RoG Phone II Tencent/Strix, OnePlus 3, Pocophone F1, Redmi K20 Pro are prime examples of flagship killers at their respective time. I don't think there's a flagship killer wielding SD865 that has all the specs including a 3.5mm headphone jack.

                                  Basically,a 250euro Realme 6 Pro with OIS on main camera and Oxygen OS...for 440euro in my country....40 euro more for OP 7 Pro,way better in any way,display,chipset,cameras...or a little bit more for P30 Pro is incomparably better option than this Nord thingy...

                                    I mean...GSMArena here certainly seemed to TRY to hype it up with an article every day about it...

                                    Punch hole and lack of headphone jack killed it. IDK if Lau knows what 'back to beginnings" means because I don't think he's using it the way it's supposed to be used. Back to beginnings would be 100% aluminum body, some bezel for grip, and added headphone jack at LEAST. At this price point, Moto 5G, IQOO Neo 3, IQOO Z1, and LG V50/V50S from last year are better options.

                                      No matter what poll GSMA will make, bots in comments wont be happy. Overpriced this over hyped that. This phone is good and the price is right.
