Are you joking? I used Nokia phones my whole life, i meant to buy Nokia N97 because it looked smooth in advertising, i went to test the phone into store and it was unusable. That was the day when i first time touched iPhone and it was like different world. I bought iPhone 3GS it was years ahead in smoothness compared to anything else in the market. Biggest problem was always very laggy browser experience, iPhone offered very smooth browser experience since first or second iPhone.

https://youtu.be/i9HmJgPRbW0 2.27 :D c'mon man! Seriously? Also just look how smooth that iPhone browser is.

Sure the device works well enough... as if that's so hard to accomplish. But they could easily be and work better. Especially for the price people pay and the "optimization" claims. As long as it works good enough and people believe all the marketing gimmicks of course they spread the word

Especially back then nothing was lag free. Definitely not the iphone. Those were early days of smart phones. But nomia among others definitely offered a competitively smooth experience. If you deny this you are lying or simply never actually used either the iphone or any smart phone back then.

And of course nokia studied the iphone to know what it was up against. As did and would any ornery company... duh. Apple 🎙 the phones out so they knew what they were again. And so they could get inspired to make their phone.
                      Logic. Learn to use it.

As far as being nearly lag free.... that's most devices. And woo.... their browser is a hair quicker. Congrats. And that doesn't describe what we are talking about. Because the internet browser on the original iPhone, as per the conversation, was not that perfect.

[deleted post]Apple? Maybe you should read the comment again? That came from Nokia, it was written in book about Nokia success and how they lost the market after iPhone came.

Apple is great in marketing, but their best marketing always been their products itself and their happy users. For example think about Apple Watch, it wasnt instant hit, marketing didn't help it to sell. It was those users who recommending it to others. Exactly same happened with iPhone.

Ask this same from Nokia :) Yes it was, even child knew how to use iPhone because it was so intuitive and smooth. It reacted right away to your touch, so using it felt very natural. It didn't had huge lag like other smartphones back then.

Haven't you read Nokia book? One Nokia engineer got the first iPhone to test so they know what they have against, he took the phone to home and her very young daughter at night asked if she can sleep with the "magic phone" That was the moment when that engineer knew Nokia are in trouble and that exactly happened.

So their devices require less energy to last an entire day, thus requiring smaller batteries. Which leaves them with more space for the chips inside and for cooling them.

Reducing to the absolute minimum requirements is true innovation. Whereas just adding bigger batteries and more RAM and more everyhing means you are just treating the effects of poor design/development; instead of tackling the problem at its roots (i.e. optimisation and efficiency)
