S Yu, 27 Jul 2020It's a huge inconvenience, especially as a C port is m... moreI've never heard of reports regarding the durability of type C port and there also exists adapters that allow charging and listening. The inconvenience really depends if you're willing to take that.

Have you tried TWS before? A reputable one like Sony particularly WH-1000XM3 sound great despite not supporting LDAC or aptX codec and lasts almost 5 hours which is enough for most cases. Not only Sony but there's also Sennheiser, Jabra, Bose, etc. who make TWS because they want to take the share of the cake. They can sound as good as their wired counterparts with the only real concern is pricing, it'll always be more expensive than wired.

Unfortunately, more companies are forcing us to live with the absence of headphone jack but normies don't care. We're left with even less choices for flagships such as Sony, LG and POCO. It's not that I hate the headphone jack as I do sympathise those who want it. I've grown to like bluetooth earphones due to being able to move freely within the devices' range without it moving and having wires tangling with each other. Wired earphones are here to stay so they're not gonna disappear anytime soon.

S Yu, 27 Jul 2020It's a huge inconvenience, especially as a C port is m... moreJust use wireless headphones? Even better, true wireless earphones? Also if you are so desperate to use wired headphones and want to have 2 cables coming out of your tablet you can always use a small slitter aux/usb-c adapter! There is one so small for like 5£.
I personally don't care about aux at all, I have Sony xm3 and true wireless xm3. As a musician/producer if I need serious sound I use computer with audio interface and proper studio headphones.

Anonymous, 27 Jul 2020Time to move on and not get stuck in the past. Now almost e... moreIt is nothing to do with getting stuck in the past .
Firstly it is a matter of convenience ,
wired earphones never need charging , wired phones also do not have batteries in them that will eventually degrade and require the batteries need replacing or the phones do ,
they also do not lag , and they never have Bluetooth connection issues if you are in an area with other electronics around .
I use Bluetooth phones on occasions about 5% of the time , they do come in handy too , but wired is still the Gold standard , and the 3.5 mm headphone jack is still used widely everywhere else except smartphones and some tablets.
Sadly this is just clear profiteering by companies trying to push their crappy bluetooth buds.
buds , and cheaping out by not having to fit a 3.5 mm headphone Jack .

Probably why apple is winning the tablet market , other than the OS

The only device without a headphone jack with a proper compromise is the ROGP3, because it has two C ports. Not even Android tablets have an extra C port and nothing is gonna excuse them. It's pure greed.
And no, TWS is for people who haven't experienced proper audio reproduction, those who have will not live with the playback quality not to mention the fuss with the batteries and how much more likely it is to lose one of a pair.
Currently one could at least boycott these companies that try to force TWS onto customers by removing the jack, that means at least buying from somebody like Sennheiser who doesn't have a say over the jack.

I really don't want to imagine a time where all songmakers, music studio directors or DJs like DJ Khaled for example have to use wireless studio headphones to make music and be okay with it.

Then again, I'll hold on to my cans and defend the headphone jack until my ATH-M50x dies. I could get some bone conduction headphones from Aftershokz or something like Drop x THX Panda headphone.

Whatever the... moreI think it has made the headphone business more competitive, lively and profitable. They still produce wired earphones / headphones, it's just that now we have more choices. You only lose convenience without a headphone jack but your wired earphones / headphones are still usable...with an adapter of course. Obviously I can live with that because I'm using bluetooth earphones at the moment which suffices my needs. We as customers unfortunately have no control in what companies decide so they just force us to accept missing features in more recent products.

At the same time, the Chinese took this opportunity to make their own TWS which is miles ahead of Samsung and Apple. Also, you can get a passive or active type C to headphone jack adapter which is a slight inconvenience.
