Take the current LG Velvet for example. It's a phone with Snapdragon 765G for around $600. It's not even a flagship ffs. How are they gonna price a phone with S865??? $1000?

Please remember that LG don't own much mindshare now. When people think of phone brands, they would think of Apple, Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, etc. LG would be pretty much an afterthought. If they keep making their pricing uncompetitive, they ain't gonna survive.

I do like the camera setup. Nice to see one manufacturer not following the trend of having huge camera humps with little screens attached to their back sides.

This is a good choice for this smartphone series. Dimensity 800 will pair up well with the LG Velvet.

LG with Mediatek Dimensity 800 is surely a thing. It will hopefully be in budget that will make it even more impressive.

An LG phone with Mediatek Dimensity chipset surely sounds pretty interesting. With the Dimensity chipset, one thing is clear that we wont have to burn holes in our pockets to be able to own it.

It would not surprise me if this MediaTek Velvet would be cheaper than the SD845 4G one mentioned yesterday.

The availability of MediaTek Dimensity chips is so far limited. The supply of Dimensity chips to phone-makers is tiered, and prioritized towards higher-tiered phone-makers. LG is rather low-tiered within the current hierarchy of phone-makers. I seriously doubt that LG will have access to a completely new Dimensity chips before other phone-makers.

D800: possible. (D800 is the most widely available Dimensity chip.)
                      D1000 (D1000L, D1000+): unlikely.
                      D820: very unlikely.
A new and unknown Dimensity chip: very very unlikely.

LOL, is this the best marketing strategy LG can come up with after a failed launch of phone when it won't take a rocket scientist to do market research by reading over major community phone forums to know that Velvet was too expensive for what it worth?

A step that will not affect the market performance for LG, which is not good, there are a lot of issues with velvet.

                                      Well,
                                      Dimensity 800 is mt6873 (not 6883), it has Cortex A76 (not A77) and 4x Mali G57 (not x5)...so it's not D800

                                      It's not Dimensity 820 (mt6875, cortex A76, 2.6ghz)
                                      It's not Dimensity 1000L (mt6885, 2.2ghz)
                                      It's not Dimensity 1000 Plus (mt6889, 2.6ghz, 9xG77)
                                      It's not Dimensity 720 (mt6853, only 2 Big cores, cortex A76, 3xG57)

                                      Maybe a new soc?

To be honest, we should treat the Velvet as a series now. Also, here's a really good advice for you, LG

Don't make your phones too overpriced. You don't own much mindshare now and making your phones more expensive than rival phones just doesn't sell.
