EVERY notches on every smartphone ever, except for the Essential PH1 (which have actually a totally different approach and predate the iPhone X but clearly didn't inspired it) are directly copied and inspired by the iPhone X which, except for the PH1, is the first phone with one ever introduced.
Huawei first smartphone with a notch, the P20, have been released in April 2018 :

Only 4 month before the iPhone X who have a hell of a complicated Notch with all the Face ID sensors, which is clearly not something you plan in 4 month since it is a radically new design, mainly knowing that in September 7 they already released a trailer video for the iPhone X who show the notch, and in August we already saw the prototype of the notch :

Definitely disproving that Apple did got inspired by the PH1 for the notch.
The Galaxy Note7 on the other hand, from September 2016 :

Meaning over a year earlier, THAT is where the notch was probably imagined from, to copy the Iris scanner the Note7 had and the S8 would be sure to include (since Samsung was at that time and is still the biggest Apple rival in the Android world) with another face based biometric and an almost fulldisplay aspect in the mix as Apple's bezel started to look too old for their flagship when other brands had way smaller ones.

One with a large notch without any biometric despite the notch have been implemented by Apple literally for the only reason to host multiple biometric sensors, and all the rest with those stupid punch holes, again, no phone with any alternatives like bezel, pop up, no front camera (second display on the back, deployable 180° view mirror or nothing)...
The stupidness of big bunch of dead pixels voluntarily put on the display never stop to amaze me by how much it spread like a disease...
All that knowing that Vivo with the V17 Pro (and X27 Pro) that had a large pop up that was totally able size wise to host multiple 3D facial recognition sensor, which would have been a world first (considering sliders aren't pop up and the Oppo Find X is not a real pop up but rather a pop up/slider hybrid and that his lack of success despite is incredibly high approval rate wasn't due to pop up and biometrics combo, but only to his cost).
But rather, they stopped totally and their only newer pop up is the Nex 3S which was logic after the Nex 3, from a brand that gained so much attention from their first pop up phone, like Oppo did, it should be damn illegal for them to stop it like that.
All that because ignorants were constantly badmouthing the pop up with imaginary issues...
