I have given up using Redmi phones for 3 reasons. Ever increasing prices. Downgraded specs and build quality with every new generation. Ads bloatware and lack of security in OS.

Redmi phones used to offer axing value for money 3-4 years ago. And they had a sensible product line. The X priced at about 8000/-, the Note X prices at 10000/- and the Note X Pro at 15000/-.

Not only has the product quality gone for a toss but also the marketing and product strategy. What was once Note X is now the baseline X with a plastic build, entry level processors and mediocre cameras. My last Redmi had a Snapdragon 660. I don't think we will be see a Snapdragon in the X or Note X series in the future, replaced by cheaper Mediatek SOCs. Same with cameras. No more Sony sensors. Will be lucky to see Samsung primary sensors if they too are not replaced with Chinese ones.

The OS situation is horrible. Every new update brings new issues. Laggy cameras. Intrusive ads.

Look elsewhere. Redmi quality is no longer there. I doubt this company will be there 5 years down the line.

Hoping for a red color version of redmi 9. 6gb ram + 128gb storage and dual-band must be available in global market and not just in china.

Foo, 01 Aug 2020A snap dragon chip would have been helpful hereBt Qualcomm fool people by charging the amount they want. Better that mediatek makes a strong comeback else Qualcomm will unnecessarily increase their chip price. Competition is always good for consumer. No doubt snapdragon provides good performance but they charge alot for that. If competition is there in market then we can get good quality at less price

Redmi 4 prime was an amazing phone.. I've used it from 2017-2020 and it fulfilled all my needs. Let's see what the next prime phone from Xiaomi achieves.

Jasper5774, 01 Aug 2020Imagine the amount of money someone would make if they prov... moreI agree with your point. I'd very much like to a 10-15 dollar subscription, if not for OS updates then at least for security patches. But if I am not mistaken, it's illegal to do that as AOSP is technically free. And anyone offering any subscription-based model on updating it is breaking a a pact. I know its self-defeating. But that's how it is.

About slowing devices, I am not too sure. My 4gb, 64gb, SD 435 device has completed 3 years with me and is still ticking along fine. I think it also has a lot to do with what you do with your device, the kind of apps you install. You'd be surprised at how many people don't even clean their cache which piles up to several gigabytes of space. My phone is not stock android. So it has a lot of features that I don't need to download a third party app for. A lot of people sing praises for stock android being the best and free of bloatware. But it can be so devoid of features, you'd need a third party app for basic things like a compass, scanner, currency exchange or whatever specific things you'd need that stock android does not have. So you'd have to download a third party app. And that means ads, that means slowing of your device.

From my experience, even entry level budget phones purr along fine if you keep the cache clean, do not install dubious third party apps and don't physically damage the device. Of course, having a skinned version of Android over stock also helps.

Don't blame hardware manufacturers just because users want to upgrade. Many people who buy budget phones tend to use it very long. You might think it's bloatware but it's not, if they do use the features. Ads are needed to keep the price down or else people will go mad about pricing (although Xiaomi ads are pretty obtrusive).

I hae it why the same companies make a lot of phones at the same price.
Poco M2 pro amd Redmo Note 9 Pro.
Samsung galaxy m31 amd a51. (same price)
                                        Oneplus 7T/Nord same price now.
                                        Realme X3/X3 Superzoom

Even when they said "Making one high quality product is better than making lots of low quality product."
So, instead of wasting resources on many products, just focus on one amazing product. Oneplus's T series had a massive upgrade over normal series on on 3T and 7T. The rest is small.

                                        Same goes for :

                                        A50s/A51/A70s/A71
                                        Note10Lite/S10 Lite
                                        Iphone X/XS
                                        Huawei Nova 5/6/7

It is better for having all resources on one single product that is high quality.
