Motorola RAZR 5G photographed, shows redesigned chin

03 August 2020
The chin is slimmer and the fingerprint reader is gone. There's just the one camera on the exterior as before, but with an allegedly upgraded sensor.

I unironically hope they don't include any fingerprint scanner at all. it's a complete gimmick and I'm really tired of every phone having one now.

I love the idea of it but like many, the price... worth a punt if was cheaper and could rationalise this as a bit of fun.
OK only gen 2 and spec coming up but needs to make a big leap and add a few hardware features for me (like external card, and maybe a 3.5mm)
Lets see what they release but the concept is a good one for me, just lacking is a few areas.

Should cost no more than $800.

The round corner make it look like a low end flip phone from a decade ago.

The omission of that fingerprint reader on the chin is a real bummer, I like it a lot.

inferior specs at crazy price, no thanks.

even if given free, will sell it to some fool and use that cash to get a waaaay better phone with money to spare

But the price was never justified. Especially with what Samsung offered. And samsungs been working on the tech much longer.
Yes moto put a lot into the mechanism but still.

And the not only is the esim a pain but the fact that not enough companies support it and it lacks many network bands... let alone other issues.
5nm chips and graphene batteries will make a huge difference for a device like this.

I wish it had smaller bezels. Otherwise what a nostalgic rush to see a clamshell form back.

Those upgraded specs sound much more reasonable. Some people will still moan about SD765, but in all honesty, it's fine. Moto needs to bring down the price though, as most people aren't gonna choose RAZR over Z Flip unless it's cheaper. The RAZR definitely has better design, but the MOTO branding just doesn't have the same value as it once did.
