Samsung may be looking to acquire a stake in ARM

03 August 2020
Nvidia was said to be in "advanced talks", but it's not clear if the GPU maker can afford the asking price and whether regulators will allow such a deal.

If Samsung can figure out how to make theirs better then I'm all in. Having ARMs and AMD on board, I'm sure they will be more powerful and cheaper then the SD next year.

Hermann Hauser: ARM sale to Nvidia would be a disaster:

PlayerDead, 04 Aug 2020I prefer this over a company like Nvidia having 100% control. I highly doubt nVidia would get 100% control even if it wanted to.

Regulators would throw a hissy fit before that happened.

Its not the best if any company takes ahold of arm....but Apple? That would be terrible.

They should rather be contemplating how they can discontinue the useless Exynos chips and bring Dragons to all markets.

if y'all bother to read this article at all, Samsung only interested on acquiring 5% of Arm's stock at most or ~2 billion USD. that's not enough to be the leading entities in stakeholders meeting, but enough to be part of it's directive.

I think gsmarena opt ed in the end could be right in a sense. a consortium of some sort of chip makers that use Arm products will benefit the most for both consumers and the stakeholders.

better Samsung than Nvidia in my opinion, Samsung supply ram, ufs storage, camera sensors etc without trying to destroy competition, Nvidia will inflate price of mobile soc, Usa companies always care for profit than Ethics.

I think I would rather see a bunch of current licensees each grab a small stake than any 1 entity having complete ownership. Samsung, Apple, Mediatek, Huawei, Qualcomm, etc., while NVidia can still acquire a controlling majority.

Thats good enough to buy a small stake rather than the whole company.Nvidia will not be able to buy the whole company and if nvidia anyhow will but it then cost will increase of the licences that are used by other brands like samsung qualcom meditek which will lead to more pricier processor as written in the article.

                                No Pls

Haha. No samsung don't do it. Let nvidia take care of it
