AnonD-27770, 01 Jul 2012LOL, can't handle open source no more? Go ahead, switch to ... moremost of the Samsung users never update their phones thru the useless KIES they all use ODN which is not official method to do so, so is this kind of support u cheer for! and why u acting like all Android phones received all the updates was release for Android since last year Samsung update only 2 phones (S2/NOTE) and took them ages to release the update and as i said not thru the KIES they used the ODN and what about the rest of the phones? do they received update? NO they have custom ROM which not everyone is interested do go for it... WP will grow and if Android continue as it is (OPEN SOURCE) only geeks will keep it and as secondary phone, just to play around with it

Go ahead, switch to ... moreBut how many "common people" know how to update from froyo to gingerbread through unofficial means :)..As a techie u can do unofficial updates but for normal people its hard..windows didnt cheat people having windows 7.5 devices they are giving 7.8 update to those devices and they cant be updated to windows 8 due to hardware limitations...but consider the case of galaxy s and Samsung Google Nexus S similar hardware update for latter and no update for former :) http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3620&idPhone2=3115

Look what happened to the current WP7 devices, no update, just got abandoned like that. For android devices, sure we don't get officials support.. BUT even a two years eclair phone can still get a gingerbread or hell even ICS by no official mean. Can a closed source do that? ;))

I live in the U.S. I had the Samsung Galaxy Note international version (N7000). I sold it to a friend of mine. He did a hard reset of the device to erase all the information and to return it to its factory default settings. He then checked for a software update in the settings menu and it showed up. ICS 4.0
