I gotta feeling that the devices that are going to get this update are those which are compatible with the feature pack 1 already, since hardware-wise, they're identical to 808.....I can't wait to receive this update for my 700!!

and please, enough with the feud between android and symbian already. we all know android is the superior one so please, enough trolling.

The one you get your missed calls, messages, etc?

Well, let me inform you lad that this is NOKIA all the way... Notification bar was firstly used by NOKIA, then ripped off by Google, who made it "slide down". That was their only "innovation" to it.

Actually, since I have been using all OS's, I can say that the NOKIA notification bar is a lot more practical than Googles' one...

Poor nokia, all the best with fooling people to by that 808 this news is all about. Two of the major flaws in Simbian still remain unadressed - a lack of a 'true' browser and a decent html mail client.

I'm an avid Android user but I love the beautiful siplicity of the Nokia Belle interface, especially in the menu. It's a shame Nokia is killing it. This interface on the MeeGo had a real bright future - not only that, the open-source MeeGo (with Belle looks) + N9 was the way to for Nokia. It was their own "iOS". With the right marketing and an added feature of PureView, Nokia would rule the mobile world once again becoming somewhat like Apple.
Dammit, I even loved the front facing camera at the bottom of the handset. The N9 was one of the most thought-through handsets in the history of smartphones. It's one collector's item any true mobile fanatic should own. If I only had some spare cash I'd get one just for the hell of it. The once beautiful Nokia is long dead now.. hopefully someone, someday will revive it from the zombie company it is today and let it live the legacy. I'll be waiting, patiently. In Finns we trust!

I currently have nokia 701, and I must say it's really a big improvement over my previous n8(which is still on top of my list of all-around devices)and another android, which I hastily dispatched off(due to hanging and numerous software issues. The only problem I had with my 701 is with the photo and video editor not being there after I after fp1. And I didn't want to hack my phone or something, since the phone has been amazing, aside from the said problem. Does anyone know if fp2 would be solving this issue, as I have thought about trading this for an n8, just because the said feature is very important to me.

Those saying Android is lagging - can conclude - they not even touch Android before. They all is pure Symbian fans than never know outside something is far far better now.

Any OS now is better than Symbian in any term nowadays.

Even the not so popular Windows phone which highly support by Nokia also superior than Symbian.

Symbian is only means for low end phone now and the cost maintain it is too high, possible the reason Nokia abandon it, also sales talk, Symbian is dead end OS since few years back.

Also, what Symbian Belle give now? They are more and more copying idea and design from Android, and they not better it even copying.

Polen, 02 Jul 2012I still do not understand why Nokia wants to ditch Symbian.... more"I think Belle is still a superior product" - Mental case ;o)

"Since I usually switch off my phone at night, I never use my Android phone for the wake up alarm, do you know why? if you are an Android user, try it and see" - There are ways around this and this is a manufacturer thing not android (i.e. not the case on allot of other manufacturers handsets).

"I really love the native running timed profiles in Symbian which makes the profile to automatically change itself to the default profile" - Er, with droid you can automate everything and anything so this can also be achieved easily...

"the biggest advantage of symbian is of course on its resources usage; With symbian one does not have to switch off some services to save power, but not with Android." - AGREED!

"Symbian is generally speaking more reliable, with very minimal lags and freezing (as long as you do not overload the phone with bloatware) as Symbian hardware is also modest to match the firmware" - Are you kidding??? Symbian is the most unreliable about! Check the stats everywhere on the net.

"Nokia should maintain symbian, at least for its mid entry phones and continue to update it" - Agreed for the midrange phones but this would cost Nokia way too much to achieve hence why they are ditching it.

I still do not understand why Nokia wants to ditch Symbian. I have been using Android since version 2.1, and now my latest phone runs ICS. I also still maintain a Nokia phone running Symbian belle, to be honest, I think Belle is still a superior product. Android is still lacking a lot of features that are in Symbian, let me just mention a few. One, since I usually switch off my phone at night, I never use my Android phone for the wake up alarm, do you know why? if you are an Android user, try it and see. two I really love the native running timed profiles in Symbian which makes the profile to automatically change itself to the default profile, the biggest advantage of symbian is of course on its resources usage; With symbian one does not have to switch off some services to save power, but not with Android. Just to mention one more, but not the last, of course! Symbian is generally speaking more reliable, with very minimal lags and freezing (as long as you do not overload the phone with bloatware) as Symbian hardware is also modest to match the firmware. I stricltly think that, with all these developments with symbian, #Nokia should maintain symbian, at least for its mid entry phones and continue to update it. And if Nokia drops Symbian.
