QHD on phones is useless unless you spend the majority of your screen time on a phone watching QHD content for hours (newsflash, most don't). If 95% of users just scroll on social media, use their camera, and do light gaming, then there's no reason to have a QHD display.

Also stuff like embedded Secure Element (eSE) that allows you to use your phone as e.g. ID card, you're unlikely to see these flagship features on chinese phones because they're not so marketing friendly. Instead, the Mi 10 Ultra will probably get pushed to have 1% higher antutu score because that's the kind of stuff that chinese manufacturers are after...

ishreal, 11 Aug 2020That's not true at all. Chinese phones last much longe... moreDo not make the wrong assumption, that if products from the same category are made in China, they all have the same quality procedures and quality test they go through. Because they don't.
Of course, companies like One Plus, Xiaomi or Huawei have come a long way since their early years and now can compare with Sony, Samsung or Apple in some ways. But that doesn't mean they are all in the same pot.

Wow. Flagship killer considering price to value. ( Cough cough...note 20 ultra)

"Going around the back we find the large camera bump which houses some impressive hardware. The primary shooter has a 1/1.32” 48MP sensor and F/1.85 lens with OIS. Keeping it company is the 1/2.0” 48MP F/4.1 periscope which brings 5x optical and 120x hybrid zoom. Both the primary and telephoto cams also support 8K video recording.

The remaining two shooters are a 20MP ultrawide snapper with 13mm focal length and a second 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom."

SPOILER ALERT: It's still going to make worse photos than Pixel 5 with some old 12MP sensor and clumsy 765G because Google doesn't give a f*ck about your marketing numbers and focuses on the camera itself instead.

Well interesting! No 108-256mp sensor. You got to ask, with such a large sensor module, could they have instead just put a big chip with big lens array which did all this? I think two visible light imageWhat happened to the Light model they were talking about? You would think they were so far into development with that one, they might have had parts and could do one model?

But, what maximum datarate and framerate, is that 8k? Any 4:2:2 12 bit? Or are we going get the ussual phone video camera quality?

8k is so old now. Even black magic design has 12k camera for sale, and may have 16k even coming from the conjecture I've seen.

Alternatively, buy a Sony wx220 camera with 18mp 10x optically stabilised zoom and larger sensor for £150 that fits into your back pocket while cycling or on your harness while rock climbing. Bomb proof. Marry this with a 8" Amoled screen tablet and away you go at fraction of the price.

It’s bit funny when people talk about Chinese manufacturing.
China has lot of problems, way they are treating neighbours, COVID, Taiwan, HongKong, Chinese software data breaches etc. It is tough to keep those thought asides when deciding to pull a trigger on a Chinese Brand.
However, when you talk about manufacturing it is just whole lot of nonsense. China can make you a bread toaster for 5$ and also very similar looking toaster for $500. The quality of product depends on standard/expense you are ready to put in to it. It is not that their manufacturing is pathetic, it is what most companies ask them to rake in most profit.
Now when it comes to Chinese Brands, they have always been very sharp, they might not go for Gorilla Glass 6 or highest IP rating (Even if their phone is splash-proof they would not go for it), as all these involve extra costs. They have decided somethings matter to consumers, battery, screen refresh, chipset, memory, charging and camera etc., and those bits are at par with any other brand in the world.
Apart from that things like Glass standard, IP, USB 3.0, number of accessories, support in marketing and service, is relatively low. This is why their phone can match on specs and still be hundreds of dollars lesser than the rest. Most people are using cell phones that last them 2 years and they are catering to that market. With a screen protector, a regular case my old OnePlus 5 still looks as good as new. I have used Redmi, Mi and none of them felt “cheap” brands while operating them.
Comparing them to other Brands, Samsung dumping Exynos chips to the rest of the World. Selling a $1000 phone which is without 5g, how future proof is that? Sony – I had 2 Xperia till date, the updates or improvements for the premium they charge in long run does not feel justified. LG, Nokia, HTC, Motorola, which of the brands can you really get behind.
I have never used iOS so I cannot comment on them.
