The price is, as with other manufacturers, artificially raised. Very soon the price will start to fall and the price will be 700-800. If the price would be set to 900 at the beginning, it should be 400-500 after price drop, as it used to be. Nowadays MNEs gain 2x more $ than they in previous years and the imput is almsot the same. We have win (MNEs) lose (customer) situation here. And this is valid so for Apple, Samsung, etc.

$1399? Even the Verizon-locked LG V60 with DualScreen case (which happens to be the most expensive LG V60 with DualScreen case bundle among all eligible USA telco) costs $350 less than the Surface Duo and it also comes with active pen support. I'm sorry, but this is definitely a big pass.

Lower the price to 300$ and it might be valid.

The concept was nice but the execution and price? It’s one hell of a confusing device. To big for a phone even in folding state and too ridiculously overpriced android tab for what it offers.

This will be for those who don't want to be bothered by durability issues on other foldables.
But why put SD855 inside especially when SD865 plus already available?
It's not like the product is cheap.

I really don't see the point of this Microsoft phone. It's just sort of a clunky Android phone. This phone doesn't appear to run UWP apps of which there are more and more lately. Windows 10 (which runs UWP apps) has 60% market share of ALL PC's (including Macs) and 70% of Windows PCs. UWP apps are capable of running on ARM processors. Without this capability there are no synergies with the Microsoft ecosystem....

Microsoft, that same company that puts candy crush adware in their pro desktop OS now offers "customized" android? Can't wait to have this bloated, intrusive nonsense on the go. Just go full Microsoft on this, pre-install cortana, force bing as search engine, hide any way to disable it, and spread out the settings over 3 different but equally confusing menues.
Windows 8 RT was a failure, Windows Phones were a failure, now the experts are back at it again. At least it's android, it won't fall apart to nothing like windows phones did...Those guys, teamed with Nokia, put out some of the most overpriced commercial failures in the history of smartphones.
Outdated hardware. Insane price. Ugly split-screen device with thick bezels that looks like something that could have been made 5 years ago. Who buys this? People who want a less practical Surface Tablet but also a really chunky phone? Nintendo DS enthusiasts that want to spend 1.3 grand on a fold out android?

The problem with calling it a phone is that it looks like two iPads stuck together side by side rather a dual screen phone like an LG. I don't even know how you can take calls with it.

How a company like Ms comes out with a product like that? Everything about this thing is wrong.... The size of those bazels, looks like 2 X iPhone 4s stick together.... HTC used to be big, Nokia used to be big, blackberry used to be big... But when you take the piss out of loyal fan base there is just one outcome.

there are no such things as phones or tablets for pros. apple got you with the pros. i even bet most of note users, dont use the pen 99% of the time.
I work for one of the biggest corporations in the world, and directors just get a normal samsung phone. people work in front of a laptop all day, they dont need to look at excel files when they are at home or having launch.
blackberry tried the ”for pro” thing. it didnt work. foldable phones are cool, having a small phone that turns into a tablet is nice. but dual screen, for 99,9% of people on 99,9% of the time are useless. juan bagnell showed what can you do with a lg with dual screen, but again, thats for a small percent of population. this is something a la motorola, when they tried with the mods, cool, but people dont have time for that. people just want a good phone with a low price. google,apple and others understood this.

If you're in the market for a foldable phone, then
you're also in the market for a foldable display.
This isn't quite that.
It's more like some LG's DualScreen, but not any close to Samsung's Z & Fold series.
Then you have the outdated chipset, no 5G, no IP68 even though they could've done it,
tiny battery, and a premium price tag that will probably translate to €1500 in european countries.
Not to mention the crazy fat bezels you could have lunch on,
and the (Quite likely) potato camera experience.
I mean, previously Microsoft clearly stated that they
were coming for the Fold's customers with this device.
But I don't know, maybe I'm all wrong, maybe this isn't a device aimed at enthusiasts but rather at pros, and all companies will equip theirs employees with MS Surface DUOs
by the end of the year ??

MS has lost its mind. No SD card, no NFC (so no Android pay), no QHD screen, Pen is probably not included and yet they want to price it like a Note20 Ultra.

I would like this device to succeed, but it's made by M$, it will be full of adware, it will fail and it will be another cautionary tale for othe manufaturers.
