AnonD-27765, 03 Jul 2012HOLD up guys! It was NEVER mentioned in the article of the ... moreTrue, but that's what the most likely backup plan would be anyway...

Nokia's other option would be to try and push symbian again. I hope not, but I wouldn't put it past Nokia. If that's their back up, RIP Nokia....

Or they might do something completely crazy and go with Firefox OS or Tizen, in which case, RIP Nokia, they don't have the reserves to experiment with something that's untested...

I'm not surprised to see insecure Samsung fans dissing Nokia. They are fearful of Nokia going Android because that means that Samsung's Android market will collapse in record time.

Nokia shouldn't be bound to any particular OS.just like others they had the option to make handsets for diffrent OSs and let the customers decide what is better for them.
Initially when android was still gaining popularity Nokia once said "Joining android would be like a finnish boy peeing in his own pants to keep warm in during cold".
Now if they do join android they'll realise that it's better than just dying in the cold.

[deleted post]Maybe for U, its a nonsense. but for the people like me who love photography it makes a big sense. coz it would make my work simple. i don't want to hanging a DSLR in my neck wherever i go. with a phone with that resolution all i need is a Phone.

maybe u r just a boy who needs toys who can do chit-chat in all social networking and play all HD games.but for people who understand what smartphone is!. we buy a smartphone to help us to make our life easier.

              sorry for my words :)

              regards.

Having watched the interview myself, Siilasmaa DID NOT say the backup plan is Android. He ONLY stated that there is of course backup plan like every company always should have. And btw Risto Siilasmaa is not just a member of board, he is the chairman of the board at Nokia.

Possibly true. but then Samsung as a company is going to be rolling in money even if apple manages get some stupid judge to ban android because apple managed to patent "interface to get information from multiple sources"...

But coming to the phones, it's about how they are put together, not about who makes the individual parts. And while I'm not going to compare the two, Nokia does make some pretty impressive phones. Clearback, pureview etc...

                          God no.

I like the idea of having an option. Android is STILL too fragmented. 10% on ICS is a joke.

We need WP8 to be a success.

I hope Nokia sticks with Windows Phone. What I like about Nokia today is they want to stand out and take risks instead of follow what everyone else is doing. If Nokia joins Android, the company would be "just another Android OEM." The world will be divided between Android and iOS and it all becomes boring. Please Nokia, do your best with Windows Phone and lower your prices a bit!
