Forgot to mention the Xperia Home launcher doesn't stray far from android. It's very easy to use out of the box.

Well deserved, Sony. I'm VERY happy with my Xperia neo. Before this I refunded a Samsung Galaxy Ace which was plagued by the infamous SOD (Sleep Of Death). Other companies are quick with new features but Sony Ericsson (now Sony Mobile) give very stable designs. Friends compliment the Exmor 8MP camera, and I love the Bravia screen and Walkman-like sound.

Good to hear that. I have always felt that Sony is the best designer out there and that's why I have mostly bought Sony Phones till date. Its just the waiting one has to do e.g. Xperia GX "COME OUT PLEASE"...
Hope Sony covers this issue soon enough! Way to go Sony :)

there a bias even in the headlines, we you are mentioning apple next to sony while the entire news sony's next in rank are HTC, Alcatel and Lenovo. Apple is way to far from the top notch and its nowt worth mentioning int the headlines. It should be apple that belongs to the "others" that you've termed.

undeniable Sony always great in design but step behind on hardware.
Sony can win in design only, it can't compete in market by only design, see how bad Sony sales, already proof it.

Can't help but agree with this, every time when im looking to cellphone stands Sony products really caught my attention, compared to other brands, sony phones are really good designs and good looking even when it is Sony Ericsson, their products are not like the rest, in terms in innovation and durability, im an Iphone 4s owner but after buying sony xperiaS my iphone looked ordinary besides my xperiaS, even SGS3, only it has big bright screen, still the design are no match for the xperiaS, Sony are not as big seller as iphone and Samsung, but owning their phones makes you different from the rest, Thank you Sony for making one of a kind products,,,

It's like these people never picked up a quality designed phone like HTC, Sony, and Apple before. I've played with the S3 already and it's like playing with a plastic Barbie doll trying to cover all that cheapness with a crappy coat of gloss. Seriously, who still uses cheap paint gloss over any devices anymore??..

Sony not just depend on smartphone sales only but from other source which label under sony. So for me sony still stand strong. The award shows that sony really deserve a place in smartphone industry. Like their stand strong in walkmam series, dslr series, gaming console, entertainment music and movies.

Money may make you shine and look good but it doesn't mean that you're respected :)
But awards proves that you are appreciated and that you make a difference even though you may not be rich!
Sony will always be looked at as an innovator even though they have slipped recently. But samsung?! Ha, the only thing I remember when I hear samsung is cheap and copycat, the thing that I do admit that samsung mastered better than others :)
Truth hurts I know! But ignoring it won't change the facts.

I'm not reading samsung anywhere here lol. Red Dot is smart enough to realize samsung's crap quality along with their zero creativity due to constantly copying apple with designs.
Sony deserves every tiny bit of it! As they have shown they are innovative. Kudos to HTC and others as well.

weird.. HTC OneX (white) absolutely has the best design compared to others in the same segment and deserves title "best design" of the year, in my opinion as well...
