A more appropriate one would be if a 3rd party seller on Amazon started selling its own products for a dollar less, while the cut would be 3 dollars, if you paid the money directly to their own bank account instead through Amazon.
While at the same they would still use Amazon's platform for advertising and warehouses storage and shipping. Basically Amazon would lose money to support the seller. And the whole point of business is to make money.

Can you imagine if Microsoft charged Amazon and other online retailers for every transaction that goes though a Windows PC!!
I'm sure its not a direct comparison, but not far off what the app stores are doing....
Remember Microsoft were successfully fined for just included IE for free (And making it Default browser) in windows, with huge fines.....
