Weekly poll: Did Microsoft get the Surface Duo right?

16 August 2020
The Galaxy Z Fold2 got an even split, but that's actually very good for a foldable phone.

imagine trying to justify this overpriced crap, even the regular note 20 would be a better deal than this lol

This thing is outclassed by many devices with a dual screen accessory or literally normal dual screen devices. It's not even one of those flexible displays or so. Is it a problem? No. However: The price is a dealbreaker.

855... well okay. 6GB RAM? Ugh, okay. One mediocre camera? Ouch. Ugly unfolded design? Well... at least it has stereo speakers, as it's so big and shoul have room for that. Wait? No? What about a big battery?
    ...
yea. Sorry but 1200 for that is just not too good. If you want to be productive, get a notebook. There are ones with touchscreens as well. If you want to play games, you can get a nice PC at this point. If you want to have a good phone, there's MUUUCH better options (even foldable).

Coming from someone like me who has an LG V50 with DualScreen case, I'll stay with LG. While Microsoft and LG are banking the same idea, LG went further with practicality. You don't even have to use the DualScreen case all the time, and that is a solid big win for me.

Personally, I'll wait for the Surface Neo to come for real.

MS should've done Surface Duo on Windows with bigger battery less gimmick and inc. Pen for productivity, and Surface 'Solo' on Android as a smart phone. For all the years of Windows mobile/Pocket PC and owning Nokia Handheld for 3+ years... This is the poop you've being working on? For whom? What MS need is a seamless sync solution between Android and Windows to increase productivity. Working on a phone, because everyone else has one just ain't going to cut it. Looks like MS still haven't find their piece of pie and are clueless just like MS-Nokia era.

Andreidinutu, 16 Aug 2020So because I said that I know how sd 855's work, like ... moreYou want straight top specs if you are paying top money, and the guy who actually wants this device needs another screen to avoid switching tasks back and forth to work at them both, this guy doesn't care having the 865 or the 855, having GPS in one screen and a browser on the other doesn't require an 865, he is paying to overcome the limitations of a typical phone, some people even carry two phones for that, typically business users.. again if you are here to discuss performance/price you are in the wrong thread.

It does not ha e 5G. I received an email from AT&T earlier this month that I had to upgrade my Blackberry Passport because they were no longer going to support 4G in 2021. Ridiculous.

This could have been almost a laptop replacement but the tiny battery and little RAM capacity make it more of a sick joke, especially with that price tag, ouch.

Btw, you would call browsing productivity right? Well, all that leftover 3GB RAM will be barely enough for Chrome. The RAM is being shared with the GPU for example, so there is no dedicated VRAM. The more RAM you have available on Android the better.

Windows 10 full and Android would make those $1400 totally worth it.

Surely there are other reasons to buy the phone than, "it's the powerhouse I've been waiting for." Yet another poorly designed survey.

Not bad until one reads the price tag. Then it's a no-go even for MS fans, myself included.
