Google wants to kill Duo and integrate it into Meet

14 August 2020
Yet another Google communication service is going to hit the graveyard.

Sort by:

That will be best move by Google, integrating both Google Duo and Google Meet. I love using Google Meet because Google Meet provides HD-quality video conferencing similar to likes of R-HUB HD video conferencing servers and Webex plus no echoes while in a meeting.

Missing the obvious, launching servies without any forethought, all seems to be in Googles DNA.

[deleted post]Well, I am a user and I complain. I had two Xiaomi devices, both bad. Xiaomi Mi 8 SE and Redmi Note 8 Pro.
If you do not trust me just enter on some Xiaomi groups on internet or facebook, see how many of us so called trolls are out there complaining about their Xiaomi phones, lol.
Not big complains, I am not saying that the phones were not usable. They are usable, but you just need to make many compromises to use them (or have a lot of patience). And why to do that, when there are other free of compromises options out there?

Aramissss, 15 Aug 2020One more useless icon you can not remove from your android ... moreYou should try Xiaomi "masterpiece" phones. They are worst than TouchWiz days with my old S3. lol.
Besides the Google apps that can't be uninstall, there are also Xiaomi apps that can't be uninstall. Majority of my apps were disabled on my past Redmi Note 8 Pro (because I didn't use or need them).
Welcome to Chinese phones, where everything is perfect on paper, not so perfect in real world usage. Unless you are willing to make many compromises, for that "perfect" 6GB/4500+mah combo (like ram and battery is the most important thing in a phone, lol).

This is stupid Duo should be an automatic feature like FaceTime for iPhone. Also wouldn't it better to merge Meet since it's newer and you can't even make calls on Meet at this moment. Google is self sabotaging

Allo was useful for me, google made me sad by removing that. Here sms and call are expensive, calling and texting apps based on internet are wanted, Google should kept them

Google stop changing things!!! The issue is lack of consistency in your apps. Enough!

                  Couldn't agree more with you.

Google duo is highest quality video chat as it uses vp9 h265.
Try testing video chat on text. Huge difference. Duo is way ahead.

google should add everything to the gmail page
each and every service of theirs
then they wont have to do all this all the time

google thinks all this is a joke. every yr they lauch 100 services and discontinue 100
                                they ve lost it

very aptly said.. not even worth joking about anymore

I'm an Android user but I have no trust left for Google products. They're just popping out new products and services like a start-up. I don't understand why they would not understand that the continuity is the key. I mean like iMessage or FaceTime have been around since the time they were introduced. Thus, they are widely used unlike Google services which hardly used by anyone I know. Solid Google services are just ad business, Gsuite (gmail, drive etc.) and Maps in my opinion.

They should integrate Google meet / duo into the messages app so you can tap button while texting cutting down on clutter and streamlining the chatting service.

                                      Hmm "end-to-end encryption" and Google.....

My guess would be that "end-to-Google-to-end encryption" would be more accurate....
