Apple have a long history of court and don't forget the media can be manipulated to provoke a certain type of reaction. Everybody knows the court "use money to decide" the rightful way of law/regulation.
The only thing I would consider buying would be a Mac Pro or building myself a similarly capable machine. Too be honest, you can't even blame the OS anymore as Windows 7 and later are far more capable and dependable. If you find internet security is a concern, then dual-boot with Linux.
For all the pragmatism in the world, some people stop using common sense as soon as they see something new from Apple.

One more answer for your ignorance. The OS for NEXUS will not be touched by Samsung in any manner.
One more answer -- Apple filed suit against the software features not on the HW.

It doesn't matter that the Nexus is no longer been sold the phones that Apple should be worrying about are the S2,S3 and Galaxy Note.

and for those of you who wonders if this is not a personal vendetta of apple against samsung:
Why only GNex and SGS3 when there are other phones from other manufacturers which have this universal search? Even WP7 has it.. Even Symbian has it.. Even BB OS has it..
Tell me if it's not just apple scared the shit out of Samsung making it huge in the smartphone industry..
they can't innovate, so they litigate.. f**king great business strategy, eh..

I think really, general consumer users that don't care what things are as long as they work, won't really care about this. If you are into technology and it's evolution then it's more of a concern.
Apple have a history of claiming they own/created stuff they never which is believable to a naive person with no grasp on technology. I remember once, this younger guy ensuring me that Apple created the MP3 format/player. The truth is MP3 was licensed from someone else and picked up by likes of Sony, Archos and Philips. Also that the brings up the other point that MP3.com was around well long before the iTunes store or any other music store for that matter.
Canonical are actually one of the biggest players in the IT world with a large share in the server market. I like to see, Apple try and sue them.
Another thing is, why is the version of iTunes which gets coded for the PC getting more resourceful and slower on older machines when it does nothing new or better.
Apple are in my mind are one big Placebo effect of non-necessity when it comes to the consumer market. I saw one of those iPad 3 tablets yesterday and whilst it's an impressive screen. I wondered what all this fuss is about.
At the moment, my heart is set on a Google Nexus 7 which for the moment should suit my needs. If push came to shove and I could still get a Galaxy Nexus as there is still plenty of life in it yet. It's a shame Galaxy S 2 will receive no update which in terms of hardware is better. Then again, that's progress for you.
