Whoever mentioned bugs, hasn't followed the correct procedure for installing GSM. Even without GSM, Google products work through a browser like everything else. Gmail, YouTube, Drive, Maps etc. Huawei will continue to dominate the smartphone and technology markets for a very long time. Trump is stabbing his own people in the back. This So called ban has not really done much against Huawei apart from the chip side. Their 5G is the best and will continue to dominate that market. USA will be lightyears behind in 5G just like it is in everything else. And to think they'll vote the orange idiot in again. God help you all.

I now own a Huawei P30 Pro, and it really is incredble and was far cheaper than an iphone.
Huawei always used Android, and then after the Android ban they still use the Android engine but without the Google services included. Anyway, this year (September) Huawei is releasing their own operating system called HarmonyOs (in development since 2012), and it will be completely free/open sources and available for all other Chinese manufacturers, or anyone in the world, to use. And Huawei is worldclass with 5G/networking technologies too.
The competition is really heating up.

Cos India will then be the next world largest mass producer and if they don't listen to what US demands of them....civil war, human rights, women rights....all these will come into play and much more easily and easier than China's/Japan's/Korea's case.

US is the country that a few months ago ceased ships from China that were delivering supplies for Iran to fight against Covid-19. This is the Great US of A in all it's glory.
Recently US of A wanted to impose new restrictions of Iran and they virtually got no support from any other powerful nations so it's obvious that the powerful counties in general don't agree with US's sanctions on Iran.

Spotify isn't even American.
BBC isn't American.
Telegram isn't American.
Viber isn't American.
Soundcloud isn't American.
Line, Signal, KaKao Talk aren't American.
etc.
So those many American companies don't look so many.
Also, Facebook and Google are pure instruments of information gathering. It's reasonable for China to try to regulate them in their country(Google voluntary decided to pull out of China for example) as they are an obvious spying threat, more than anything China has put out.
Why would blocking Porn websites, VPN websites, Politically sensitive sites be a problem? it doesn't make sense.

Some of the Indian comments just show how short sighted they are. The US is against China not because the governing party is communist, it is against China because it is a challenger to US technological leads. Japan in the 80s' and EU in the 90s' were all target of American sanctions and spying. The US were against European integration and Euro and Airbus sales to foreign countries were regularly opposed by Washington.
If India ever became a technological powerhouse like Japan, EU, and China it would be subject to sanctions as well. Especially so if India is poised to replace the US as innovator.

If not for Huawei and other Chinese makers, we would still be using single-camera phones today with poor low light capture. The Huawei ban has already slowed innovation in the sector and resulted in higher prices of flagships. This is not the end; more bans are on the way on Chinese companies. Consumers are the ultimate losers.

Dometalican, 18 Aug 2020I'm waiting to see if a Mate 40 X is on the horizon an... morethought of getting one too through my carrier but after weighing all the cons, i decided to get Xiaomi instead. you may install Google services using gapps but doesn't run well like other Chinese devices because this is not Google certified device. it becomes annoying after sometime with all the bugs. if camera perfomance is your priority then I'd suggest going for high end Oppo or Vivo phones, or to be safe just an IPhone.

Partially to gain the acvess of terrorist or something liek that. Technically, right now China can do anything. Literally everything.
