Cyberchum, 19 Aug 2020Poo logic. You didn't say most Asian smartphone use... moreU need to go to school first i said it right moat people play games in their phones and that most part belongs to asia.U know the meaning of most;did u know the total population of asia vs western countries just go and have so study.Weatern people use mostly apple or other flagship but in asian developing countries people prefer mid rangers and did u heard of mid range phones they comes with slow exynos so i said that exynos 9611 is not good its slow even basic tasks like while opening app it lags sometime. And u said moat people don't use phones for games they used for productive purpose so give the evidence so,where is Your evidence??

I think it's time to say goodbye to my s9 plus then

Boggy-Stefy, 18 Aug 2020I don't get it, why people stay with such poor phones ... morewhy is a j7 pro a poor phone? In my use case as a back up phone, it still works. And it works great still!
Anyway, i change phones every year (from my pocket or carrier subsidised) as i always carry with me 2 phones and a back up phone at home.
Fruits are great i used them before. But hell its so expensive. I can buy a phone (android) a third of its price and have 90% whatever you can do with the fruit brand. Thats quite a savings

kanaaka, 19 Aug 2020There's Note 10 Lite on the list, the device launched ... moreIs not about the hardware capabilities, is about how new a device is. S8/S8+ are very capable phones still (hardware wise), but they are 2017 phones, so they will not receive even Android 10, they will be stuck at Android 9.

Imo, I think the idea of Samsung behind this news article, is also for marketing purposes, they want people to sell their S8/S9/Note 8/Note9 phone series and buy S10/S20/Note 10/Note 20 series phones.
Time will tell if it was a good idea or not. Or more importantly, if they will implemented it correctly. Samsung already suffers nowadays in the image department. If they will fail this, it will be even worse for them.

There's Note 10 Lite on the list, the device launched with Android 10 from start, i'm not really sure it will get 3 major updates considering it's even using Note 9 chipset.

You didn't say most Asian smartphone users play games (which would still be an assumption until you provided evidence) or that most Asian teenage smartphone users play games; you said that most smartphone users play games. Baseless assertions.

I think you might need to head right back to school.

fc, 19 Aug 2020u pay for an $1000-$2000 average price smartphone android f... more1000-2000$ average price?! Aahhh what? You mean most expensive smartphones.
I am pretty sure the average price for a smartphone (at least Android ones) is 500$. Maybe even less.
Also 3 years is not that bad imo. There are very few people that change smartphones after more than 3 years. And those who do, don't really care about security or software updates (there are non-tech people). "If the phone works is good" type of people.

Anyway, more important than longevity of the updates, is the stability and the speed of the updates (how fast the update arrives on your phone model, after Google announce it). Here, Android phones were so bad in the past. Hopefully Samsung can correct this first and then think about longer updates offering.

                          Anonymous, 19 Aug 2020Lol that is 2 OS upgrades.wrong
At the time of android 4 there was a little bit different version numbering which has changed to what we have now just because google wanted to faster get to the number 10.
So 4.1 to 4.2 is a version update hence the ways of those days the same goes for 4.2 to 4.3 and to 4.4(4)
Than we had 5.01 which changed the way of numbering to a number for a version
So the device he was talking got almost 4 android os update!

apple can support up to 5-6 year ios update

A good reason to get a Samsung flagship over other Android flagships. If my P30 stops getting updates with GMS, I guess I'll have to switch to S10e or S20.

It’s really nice of them to include some A-series members to this list. After all, the A5X is their most popular phone in the line, so I’m glad to see it get better support. Too bad about its crappy SoC.

This is fantastic news. Yes, others in comments pointed out that some manufacturers are already doing it but I don´t see any reason to hate Samsung for also starting to do it. And let us be hones, they are one of the first.
