Dessert3394, 20 Aug 2020Hahahaha lolllllllllllllllThe main problem with 765G is that it doesn't have WiFi 6, Qualcomm kept it only for the premium 865, and since I just upgraded to AX 3600 router I can only use Wifi 6 with 865 even though I don't need the full power of it.

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2020But aren't all carriers here in the USA shifting to 5G soon?Wow. That comment screams "USA is the world" to me.

I guess they just wanted to test the waters first by not using the pricey sd865 chip and their home country is china also has 5g coverage already, so they chowe sd765. Could have still used sd855 though. I hate midrange even though they're more than enough for everyday use, their gpu aren't to the level of sd8xx.

It's more attractive to consumers with some knowledge if they use sd855. It's just what I thought of.

Maybe I'm wrong that they're testing the market. Maybe using sd765 was their plan from the start long ago.

The 765G Chipset is a great move actually. Most people, unless they are hardcore mobile gamers are not using the capabilities of the 865.

The 765G will still provide a smooth day to day operation of the phone. You will not notice a speed difference when scrolling through apps, going through the internet or watching TV shows or movies.

The main reason this is a smart move by ZTE is cost. Going with the 765G, which has an internal 5G Modem, will save the customer a lot of money while still allowing them to move into the new era of 5G.

The only 2 items I worry about are:

            1. Waterproof rating. I really hope ZTE adds this to the Axon 20 Pro. It adds a significant price though to obtain an IP rating, but I believe they can provide that since they are using the 765G and keep the phone price around $799-$899, which I would be happy to pay. I currently own the Axon 10 Pro and will be taking it in for repairs because some water accidently fell on it and ruined the phone :(

            2. US Sanctions/Bans. This is one that has haunted me for years now lol. I started off with the Axon 7 Pro years ago and it was by far my favorite phone at the time. Flagship specs for half the price and ohhhhhhhh THE FRONT FACING SPEAKERS were amazing! Don't know why ZTE decided to remove them, probably because everyone cares about a "bezeless" display now. About a year after I got it, the US did sanctions/ban on ZTE that crippled them. I noticed it in my phone also, updates for the phone and security would not come as often, speed slowed down, etc.

At the 2yr mark I decided I needed a new phone and got a Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Amazing phone and specs. I still believe ZTE had a better phone to cost ratio, but Huawei was still up there with a better phone to cost ratio compared to a lot of major US names.

After 2 years I wanted to upgrade my phone, at that point the ZTE Axon 10 Pro was not released so I was looking at the Mate 30 Pro, but then the sanctions/ban on Huawei. Not allowing Qualcomm to be used was not that big of a deal. Huawei is a huge company with their own R&D and their Kirin Chipsets are great. To me the biggest issue was the removal of google services. Play Store, Maps, Google Chrome, You tube, etc. Basically a majority of the stuff I use. You can always "jail break" those services, but I don't trust how good they will run then.

So I decided to go back to ZTE because the sanctions/ban was lifted on them, but who knows how long that will last lol. Overall.....I'm really excited for the Axon 20 Pro!

A couple of generations later they will have made big improvements so it's an important first step. I salute them and so should everyone else. They are the ones propelling the field forward atm.

Now, lets wait for Apple to magically "invent" the under-display-camera in 3-5 years from now.

They should use sd855/855+ without 5g as a safer risk

Those camera sensors seems really small. Now Axon has become a mid-range mediocre phone. The under display camera don't change it and maybe will not be optimal too.

2 downers, small battery and the unsecure and untrustable SD chip 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Too small of a battery unfortunately.

                                    Otherwise, doesn't look bad.

Those camera lenses and sensor sizes seems really tiny.... So I'll be a complete average mid-ranger at the end instead a proper flagship...
